#Blogging 101 … How and Why

Todays task for Blogging 101 search 5 topics, look at some new blogs, and follow at least 5. Posting is not necessary but if you want you can…

Before actually doing the task I though to myself… What do I follow? Who do I follow? Why do I follow?

When I started the blog, I had no understanding of how this whole blogging malarkey worked. Suddenly I got a few, and I mean few, followers which made me feel elated! Wow! Someone wants to follow me, the only time ‘stalking’ is acceptable! And initially I would follow back out of courtesy. Then as I started looking at my reader, I noticed interesting posts which were reblogs, then I followed those, and guest posts would spur me on too!

I used the introduce yourself posts on various blogs, like OM, clicked on some blogs, and liked them so the following happened there too.

As my own follower count grew, I thought to myself “I’d like to follow other new, little known blogs. My one little follow would mean a lot to those still in single figures.” And so I did that.

If I find a blog that is similar to mine, I know I’ll enjoy the read, so they get my follow, and readership too! And I do read, I have two set times a day where I go through my reader, and faithfully check all the new posts out. First thing in the morning, and before bed. This is almost like my new book to read!

Going back to the task in hand, I have such a full reader, that I very rarely go on the search tag bar, but today I ventured on there.

So I chose the following subjects,

  1. Culture – I love a bit of culture, anything to broaden my mind!
  2. Bollywood – that was a given! What I wouldn’t give to be running around changing clothes every 30 seconds dancing around trees!
  3. Family – because mine are the most important thing in my life, and I love to read about other families.
  4. Crafts – love getting new ideas!
  5. Humour a because who doesn’t want a laugh everyday? I know I do!

And I followed more than 5… I knew I would! There are so many great blogs out there! As I get a chance to explore further, I will post some links to them, so hopefully they might tickle others fancy!

In the meantime, what makes you follow a blog?

I followed you to steal your curry recipes. Then you started depriving your hubby of meat and had to keep following so you don’t starve him to death. 😉

I love humour blogs, I like ones that are a little different as well. I enjoy blogs that are about a variety of things, crafts, poetry or just random stuff.
I love your blog too Ritu which just about ticks every box! 🙂

I don’t know, I read someone and if their story speaks out to me or if they have me laughing like crazy, I’d follow them. I don’t know, it just..it’s what’s speaks out to you, you know what I am saying?

And I follow you, because I love reading whatever you write. 🙂

I had a good look in the reader section today as I had only ever read blogs I follow, and the freshly pressed section. It was good to type in a subject (I chose craft, scrapbooking, sewing, children’s books and parenting) and found heaps of good blogs. I usually follow a blog that posts about things I enjoy doing or reading about but also, sometimes a really good blog will come along that is totally different to ones you’re used to and I like to follow them too.

I love humor too but what pulls me are stories written from the heart, the honesty that radiates through post and sometimes the mission of the blog itself- like maybe wanting to change the world or doing some craft, or some DIY blog. I like human beings who are willing to make a change and to work toward that so those blogs would be a draw too !

I love your blog. I thought I would just mention that first.

I find most of my blogs currently, either by accident, or if someone follows me. Which is one reason I love when someone follows me, because I get a chance to see other bloggers. Tagging still confuses me on WP. Overwhelms may be a better word, there are so many. I also knew nothing about blogs when I started and that is still something that I am not especially good at is searching for blogs.

As far as what I like in a blog, really, it is the content and connection. I love a blogger who likes to connect with the person reading their blog. Also, what I write about is tough, and I also like to expand my views on just about everything and WP gives me that chance.

As you can see, and please just feel free to let me know with a nudge of some sort…I ramble in just about everything, including comments…thus my blog title..but I enjoy talking.. great post as always 🙂

A rambler after my own heart! Thanks for the compliments!!
I think tagging is covered on the blogging course soon too! If you ever have a question though I’ll help if I can!

The depth and the honesty with which the content is written makes me follow a blog.
