Too tired to type last night!

I’m Pooped!

OMG, what a night!

I was alone with the kids yesterday, as we had no Daddy with us due to a work trip away for a night.

Should be nice and simple, yeah?

School finished, went to my In-Laws to eat, as we usually do, then came home to see our Sonu Singh, and we were expecting a quick visit from a friend who was delivering spare parts for my son’s Dhol drum.

All good.

Cat was ok, parts delivered and it was jut time to get them showered and ready for reading and bedtime.  They both are at that independent stage where they want to do everything themselves, shower included.  Lil Man is old enough, and Lil Princess is pretty good too. I usually take that opportunity, all 10 minutes of it, to sit in the study, which is next door to the bathroom, and check out a few posts, while they get themselves sorted.

Lil Man was done, and Lil Princess got in next… and got out… and I heard

“Mummy…. I’m not quite sure what happened out here….”

Uh Oh….. I sprang up (really!) and the whole of the bathroom floor was wet… like a mini splash pool! Water EVERYWHWERE!

Good God! Kids, when I fill the bath and you have a splash around, I know you manage to get a little bit of water out of the tub, but this was ridiculous! It appeared that she has opened the shower curtain slightly, and then the water had streamed out of the tub, all over the bathroom, and floor!

I was *understatement* a little miffed…!

Mopping up the mess, and collecting the sodden bath mats, I tramped downstairs and put a new load into the washing machine, and made my way back up the stairs, when I felt something touch my head… I stopped, felt it, it was wet…

Looked up, and there was water dripping through a tiny crack in the ceiling!

Nooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!

I ran upstairs, and could see a tiny wet patch outside the bathroom door where the carpet was damp, and ran back down… yup, it was dripping!

What to do??!! Hubby Dearest wasn’t here!

Well I called him, and my mum, who were both approximately 3 hours away from me… great help they would be eh!

And amidst all the advice that was being thrown my way, the drip stopped.  I had thought maybe I had been to harsh on the kids, and maybe there was an internal leak somewhere, but then it seemed apparent that no, it was Lil Princess’s carelessness with the curtain that did all the damage!

So, after Skyping Hubby Dearest, and showing him what, why, where, I decided I would ignore it, unless I heard a crash, and the bathtub had fallen through the ceiling, or I awoke to a swimming pool downstairs!

But all that, along with getting the kids to sleep, eating, and ironing pooped me out, and I was asleep by 10:15pm!

I’m about to step into my shower now, fingers crossed it isn’t something internal, and I don’t end up taking a shortcut downstairs, along with the bathtub!

Lol, Ann! Lil Princess was already a bunch of nerves and emotions due to the tests she is taking at school, so there were tears… But she forgot about it, it was Lil Man, on the other hand, who remembers things and thinks things through too much, who worried about it… But all seems fine!!! Thank goodness! 😊

The only thing you could have done was exactly what you did. Clean it up, put the kids to bed and.. make sure nothing bad happened. It’s just a crack in the floor, not in your roof. That would have been worse. 😛

I undestand your desperation completely! But despite that all (with a little distance of course 😉) You are amazing how ironic you are writing it. That’s what I love about your beautiful personality, Ritu!

    Ritu,
No wonder you don’t gain weight and remain sprightly. You do too much.
Hope you got adequate rest and a good warm bath.
