Well you know I had a doctor’s appointment today…
It was the idea of Chris, to write the diagnosis in verse!
Chris… I hope this is ok!
The Diagnosis
So I went to the doctor today
With a list of what I had to say
First shock of mine
I was seen on time
Looked like things were going my way!
* * *
Headaches the bane of my life
Constantly causing me strife
“It’s tension,” he said
Causing grief with my head
The joys of being working mother and wife!
* * *
Hayfever the next on my list
Tablets, eyedrops and nasal mist
To help me survive
The next month or five,
I think that you get my gist!
* * *
My heel has been ever so sore
Feel like I’ve been in a war
But it’s got a name,
Why I feel this pain
And now I can’t rhyme anymore!
And I still forgot to ask about my knee which has a reoccurring pain!
But the headaches, of which I have been betting many, appear to be tension based… I did ask the doctor whether I should tell Hubby Dearest that a day or two at a spa had been prescribed!
Hayfever, well that’s a bane of my life that had been there for many years. I have just learned to get on with things, as long as I have the right medications to hand!
My heel, now that’s a different matter.
I have what is known as Plantars Fasciitis.
What?
Every time I get up in the morning, and put my foot down, I get a shooting pain in my heel, and it is painful to put any pressure on it. Even massaging it hurts. To touch it is agony, but I have to keep on going, I can;t allow it to stop me moving around!
Apparently this condition is really common among women, especially as they get, ahem, older. (Drat, I’m getting old!!!) It;s to do with a band of tissue under the sole of the foot thickening apparently.
There are injections that can be had, but my doctor is not a fan. He has given me some exercises and massages to do to see if I can ease the pain.
So there you have it, the results of my doctors visit!
I’m going now…

I am sorry about the pain in your heel, sis! But I am glad nothing of it is serious! I hope you get that Spa even without prescreption… 😉

Thanks Julz. The doctor suggested a rolling pin under the foot too. I shall be trying all these things… Anything to get relief!

My diabetes nurse suggested wearing heel pads (wedges) in my shoe to lift the angle. It worked or me.

Yes Ritu. You have done yourself proud. Just say this poem three times a day and all your aches will go away. I am most impressed with your Plantars Fasciitis. Sorry it hurts though and wish you better really soon. Kris.

Thank you. .. I feel proud of it… as mum said ladies of ‘a certain age’ tend to suffer from it… I may have to admit it… I’m growing up! !
Thank you Kris!! 😊😊

Hi, Ritu, I’ve had pf also and the shot does help. Also don’t walk around barefoot and always wear shoes with good arch support (flip flops are not good!) Hope you’re feeling better soon

Thank you! My mum recommended Fitflops as they are better cushioned and supported, and the doc said to wear a slight heel too to take pressure off the heel and onto thev ball of the foot.
I’ll be trying plenty!

I got some special heel gel supports too. .. but I shall look into the options.
I’m gutted at the ‘no flat shoes’ though… I live in them usually!

I wear flats and flip flops as long as they’re Orthaheel and don’t have a problem.

Ritu, my husband had PF. After months and months of exercises and stretches, and no relief, we went to a podiatrist, who gave hubby a cortisone shot. After 4 weeks the pain had gone from a 10 to a 4. He gave him a second shot and he is now pain free. Get another opinion. Your feet will thank you. ❤️

Thanks Dorinda. My mum suffered from it too, and she had hell with the injections… I am going to try the exercises, and if there is no joy, I will definitely push for the shot… 🙂
