#SoCS July 8/17 – Ick

Linda’s prompt for #SoCS this week…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “ick.” Find a word with “ick” in it or use it as a word itself. Have fun!

A couple of limericks!

There was a young bachelor from Chiswick
Who went by the name of Dick
He was tired of waiting
So tried speed dating
But he still couldn’t find a chick!

—————————-

The witch played an awful trick
Her finger did the Princess prick
She slept for so long
Until Prince came along
Now Witchy’s banged up in the nick!

The Diagnosis…

Well you know I had a doctor’s appointment today…

It was the idea of Chris, to write the diagnosis in verse!

Chris… I hope this is ok!

The Diagnosis
So I went to the doctor today
With a list of what I had to say
First shock of mine
I was seen on time
Looked like things were going my way!
* * *
Headaches the bane of my life
Constantly causing me strife
“It’s tension,” he said
Causing grief with my head
The joys of being working mother and wife!
* * *
Hayfever the next on my list
Tablets, eyedrops and nasal mist
To help me survive
The next month or five,
I think that you get my gist!
* * *
My heel has been ever so sore
Feel like I’ve been in a war
But it’s got a name,
Why I feel this pain
And now I can’t rhyme anymore!

And I still forgot to ask about my knee which has a reoccurring pain!

But the headaches, of which I have been betting many, appear to be tension based… I did ask the doctor whether I should tell Hubby Dearest that a day or two at a spa had been prescribed!

Hayfever, well that’s a bane of my life that had been there for many years. I have just learned to get on with things, as long as I have the right medications to hand!

My heel, now that’s a different matter.

I have what is known as Plantars Fasciitis.

What?

Every time I get up in the morning, and put my foot down, I get a shooting pain in my heel, and it is painful to put any pressure on it. Even massaging it hurts. To touch it is agony, but I have to keep on going, I can;t allow it to stop me moving around!

Apparently this condition is really common among women, especially as they get, ahem, older. (Drat, I’m getting old!!!) It;s to do with a band of tissue under the sole of the foot thickening apparently.

There are injections that can be had, but my doctor is not a fan.  He has given me some exercises and massages to do to see if I can ease the pain.

So there you have it, the results of my doctors visit!

I’m going now…

Time For Kruti’s Poetry Prompt!

You know I like a prompt now and again, and in December Kruti had set some prompts for fiction, which I enjoyed writing, and she said she would be back with something different. That prompt came in the form of writing a Concrete Poem.

Todays prompt is gonna be a bit tedious :p – Can we all try writing a concrete poem? Yes of course we can.

Concrete, pattern, or shape poetry is an arrangement of linguistic elements in which the typographical effect is more important in conveying meaning than verbal significance. It is sometimes referred to as visual poetry, a term that has now developed a distinct meaning of its own.

Check her prompt post out here.

So, anyway, concrete poetry, or shape poetry… I hadn’t heard of it before, until, ironically, last weekend, when my daughter came home, and her homework was to write a shape poem. What on earth was a shape poem? Rhyming couplets about a square? Haiku about triangles? Sonnets about circles?

No, silly! It is a poem, or some writing, written in the shape of an object! She had do do one with the prompt word of Earthquakes, so she wrote a senses-inspired poem about the look, feel, taste, smell and sound of an earthquake, and each line looked like a crack!

And now it’s my turn!

Now not all of us are a creative genius on a computer, to write in various directions, so Kruti said we could write, the traditional way, on paper, and photograph the finished item…

So this is what I did!

It’s an ode to underpants! I hope you all like it, and actually, more than that, I hope you can actually see it!

I’m not sure if it even counts! But hey, I had fun doing it!
