Let’s have some fun !
Where in the world are you from?
Really.
Where? I want to know!
Take me, little old me….
I was born in the UK, in the lovely city of Birmingham, it’s wonderful, really!
I spent 6 years living in Kingston-Upon-Thames, then I married and am now in Kent.
But my links are not just UK based.
I am British, but not English, if that makes sense…
I am Indian, born to Indian parents.
But they are not straight forward Indians either!
They were both born in Kenya, Africa.
Their parents before them were born in India.
So that’s the UK, Kenya, and India that I have my roots in.
But my international familial connections don’t end there.
My brother is married to a Finnish girl, and they live in Finland.
My mother’s brothers families live in Australia.
My Pops has a sister in America.
My Mum has family in Canada.
My Pops’ nephew lives in Uganda.
We have spread to Norway too!
So many different places around the world… There are more too, but I can’t remember them off-hand!
I’d love to know where you are all from, and which other international connections you have too!
- Write a post, link it back to mine with a ping back, telling me all about where you are from, and I will share it too!
- Title it “Where In The World…?” and you can use my little image too if you want!
- Share this post too if you want!
I love how we can make this world a little smaller by sharing!

Born in Algeria to an Indian father and Tunisian mother. My dad’s family was French Indian but onlu because France had colonised Pondicery though his family is all over the world including France, the US, Canada, Australia, Japan and a few others I can’t remember. My mom’s family has roots in Turkey as well and is spread out in Turkey, Egypt, France, Germany, Austria, Canada, etc 😀

Hello Ritu,
This is a great post, I was born and raised in the only French province of Canada (Québec). One of my mom’s great uncle spent a lot of time working on the family tree and found that the first Canadian relative came from France many generations ago. On my dad’s side, we can’t trace back. My theory is that we come from the Acadians that were deported by the English. Many crossed the bay of Chaleur and changed names as to not be found. That could explain some of the mystery there.

This is cool Ritu! Let’s see…I was born and raised in El Paso,Texas. My mom and her parents were also born and raised in El Paso. My father is from Chihuahua/Ciudad, Juarez, Mexico. He became an American citizen. My father’s parents were also from Chihuahua. My great grandparents were from Michoacán and Durango, Mexico. My other ancestors were from Mexico and Spain. Some were also of Jewish descent. We’re also said to have some Native American blood in there somewhere.

So am from Assam , state from east India . If you know anyone from assam , you would also know .. , unlike other Indians , how shy we are to venture out of Assam and settle anywhere else.
We love our slow , very-slow , terribly rainy , terribly hot place digging our hands full into rice and fish curry. I can safely say my last 7 generations have been from Assam , none have ever ventured out of state , let alone country. But my father did come out of Assam and traveled across India for Job and If it count’s I have visited some part of Europe and Australia on my job.
Now , am born Hindu married an atheist , non-practicing Muslim with a cool family from southern India settled in west India.Hindu married to a muslim ..we are quite an interesting couple in our Indian society 😉

I’m from Texas, live in TX now, but have travelled, to Europe (Germany, England, Ireland, France) and to Japan, courtesy of U.S. Army (husband) … I have German, and Irish ancestors, and one great-grandmother was full blood Native American Indian (Blackfoot) …that’s all I know of. My parents are from Brooklyn, my grandparents are from Brooklyn (mom’s side), their parents from Italy, My paternal grandmother was from Italy. So there ya have it, I am 100% Italian!! I married a Canadian French, who was born in the states, his family comes from Canada & France. Hubby has many nationalities on his side, including Native American, Polish, Irish, too many to list. So my kids are technically mutts LOL but I tell them the better half is Italian (since it’s 50%) 😉
