Christmas Cookies! ( Oh And Injury Report # 1045, or something like that!) #ThrowbackThursday

Thought I’d share a delicious recipe for cookies, seeing as I will be making these again soon!

Well, despite the sickness, and general craziness of the weekend, I decided to bake cookies. I like to take a big batch to school for the staff room, and these shortbread lovelies are melt in the mouth yum too!

Armed with my Cookie Press, I am ready!

2015-12-13-18.46.52.jpg.jpeg

It’s a simple recipe.

500g Butter, softened
200g Caster Sugar
2 Teaspoons Vanilla extract
500g Plain Flour
1) Preheat oven to 180 Degrees C/Gasmark 4
2) Cream butter and sugar together unil fluffy
3) Add vanilla extract and then mix in the flour well.
4) Load up that press and get aiming at the baking tray!

Bake for 10-12 minutes.

Voila!

But these things are never uneventful, where I am concerned, and just for good measure, and to prove my blood and sweat goes into everything I do, I proceeded to burn myself on the oven!

2015-12-13-20.52.46.jpg.jpeg

I had to cover it with a dressing too, as it was (and still is) very painful! OUCH!!!

Oh no! A kitchen casualty, and it looks like a fair size of a burn?

These days I keep an Aloe Vera plant in the kitchen for precisely this reason; I frequently catch my arm on the oven shelf and providing it’s just a superficial wound, I split open an aloe leaf and smear it on the burn. It is wonderfully soothing.

Hope you are ok – sending love πŸ’•

Thank you Corina 😊 it was so sore last night, I shall uncover it this morning, and see, hopefully it won’t be too bad, but I’ll scar, as always, and it will join the crisis cross of oven and iron scars already on my arms… I am so clumsy!

Love those cookies…I use a press from the 1970’s that makes me break out in a sweat from bearing down. Same recipe, but mine uses almond extract instead of vanilla. It came with the press.

Brave of you to take on a burn in the name of Christmas baking. Been there !! Take care of it. ☺

Well I got my press from Lidl one year, and never used it. Then last year I decided to try it, and the results were wonderful! In fact, the biscuits remind me of ones my grandma used to make, when we went to visit her in Kenya!!

Ritu…. Lavener essential oil is something you need to have in your house! Pure on the burned spot and it heals fast and takes the pain. Also for scratches, cuts, and bites, stops the bleeding!
And now THANK YOU!!!! I will copy that recipe!!! Finally one in the metric system. It sounds yummie too!
