One Liner Wednesday #1LinerWeds – Give Thanks

“A simple ‘thank you’ can mean the world.”

Ritu 2021

Again, one line, above☝️, with a little explanation.

Today, I was working from home, and spent the morning phoning most of my pupils families to check in with them, and make sure they were okay, accessing the learning easily, and generally, checking their wellbeing.

The amount of parents who said thank you, and even one who wants to bring something in to show her appreciation, meant the world to me.

I don’t need gifts, and I said that to the parent in question, but those thank yous meant everything. It is so toug, right now, as a teacher. We want to do the best for our families, and our students, but remote learning will never be the best way, regardless of how you deliver lessons.

So, instead of hearing gripes, every call was filled with positivity.

I can sleep with ease, tonight. ❤

For Linda’s #1LinerWeds challenge.

That simple thank you means far more than any gift. Words matter, and coming from parents, they’re the best words a teacher can hear.

It’s really important, in these times, to support everyone. Yes, we are teaching in a way we never thought we’d have to, but parents and carers are suddenly all having to be teachers too, under awful circumstances, battling working from home, or even unemployment, at a time where it is cold, and they can’t even take their kids out, easily. We have to be sensitive to their situations too! 😊

Thats wonderful, Sis! Parents really need to be grateful for a teacher so careful for their little ones. Actually here i dont have knowledge about a teacher having closer contact to the parents, beside the official meetings. Thank you for your great work! Michael

I wish we would occasionally hear from our teachers, Ritu.I really struggle to know what is going on from day-to-day and week-to-week. It is very stressful. You are doing a wonderful job.

A BIG “Thank You” for all that you and your fellow Educators do every single day – with and without a pandemic to make it even more difficult! On yesterday’s Kelly Clarkson Show, they highlighted a Black Male Teacher who is mentoring young black men to become Educators…here in the US, many have gone through all of their schooling without ever having a male teacher of color, and it’s an effort to offer more diverse voices in the classroom…the more we are exposed and inspired by teachers of all cultures, races, genders etc – the more “diverse thinking” our young people will be!

When we think our efforts are going unnoticed the appreciation rises to the surface. That’s awesome, Sister 💜🙏🏽

A thank you never hurts and to tell from your example, it can mean so much more than the one who says it, expects.

Ritu, a big thank you for all the work you are doing as a teacher in a pandemic. Many thanks to all of the teachers who have had to teach remotely, which cannot be easy to do. I hope teachers and students alike are able to fully head back to the classroom by the time fall rolls around again. Enjoy your Wednesday!

Thank you Mary,. I accept and cherish that, for all educators and school staff out there. It is a tough time, right now, and we’d all much rather be back to normal!

A great example. I once called my daughter´s teacher to say thank you and she said she seldom got calls like that, only complaints. xo

Well done teachers everywhere. I imagine teachers are getting to know parents better than they would have done normally.
