Love a bit of Muhammad Ali, so thank you for that great quote, Spidey, to kick off the holidays!
As you know, I am now on my school summer break.
It’s that stretch of time when people unused to working in education think us teachers lounge about and do nothing for 6 weeks, or longer.
WRONG!
Firstly, I have five weeks officially out of school. Secondly, just because the kids aren’t in doesn’t mean we aren’t. Sure, I won’t go in every day, but I will be, at some point, as we have to get started on clearing the classrooms and getting ready for the new arrivals. Paperwork needs completing, as well as general decor. I have a new teaching member of the team who will need some guidance as to what we have available to use to pretty up what will now be her room.
Plus, the holidays are the only time I can sit back for a while, then get on with that other passion of mine; writing.
Book three is due out next year, and I need to get it written! So I have to make good use of the days I have out of school. This will be on top of other commitments and events we have planned over the break, too.
So far I have added 2,600 to the manuscript and written myself a skeleton plan for the story. I have been scheduling other posts that are going to be featured on my blog, plus I have at least 2 articles to write for other blogs as a feature!
I will be filming a Youtube interview with someone and being a featured speaker at the Thriving Authors Seminar in August, too! Eeks!

Yes, I do like to stay productive if when I have time off if I can. It’s good to feel that progress being made and I find it quite energising. Perhaps I’m just not very good at relaxing 🙂 It sounds as if you will have a busy six weeks. I hope the writing goes well, it’s so exciting that this will be your third book, you are doing so well. Staying productive is counterproductive. Part of self-care is taking time for self to relax, and not worry about being productive. Easy?? Not at all!

Love your passion and dedication…your quote reminds me of one of the funniest things Robert Down Jr. says in the film “Tropic Thunder”. He’s a very pretentious Actor who clearly has no idea what they are filming…”didn’t you read the script?” he was asked. His answer was: “I don’t read the script. the script reads ME.”

I try to wind down a bit and only do school things on an as needed basis, but I do try to get home things and paperwork done that I don’t otherwise find time to do during the school year
