Chai And A Chat #225 #ChaiAndAChat

Hello there! Where did that last week go?

Have you got your drink?

  • If we were having chai,Β I’d start by telling you about school. It is strange. The wave of illnesses that struck before the half term has not gone away at all as yet. One class is suffering, and one is still acting pretty hale and hearty. Even so, we had a good week back, with the children really showing developments in ways that please the soul. We loved seeing the Cherry Blossom Tree come into flower last week, too! The children will be beside themselves when the blossoms fall and the petals carpet the playground in a few days!
  • If we were having chai,Β I’d tell you the weather is acting all strange, too. It was cold, but we had days of warmth, too. Maybe spring has arrived? But then, on Sunday, we had hailstones! And I hear there is a snow blizzard due in the news few days, too!
  • If we were having chai,Β I’d say that I read a beautiful book as well this week. It is a translated fiction book, and they always take me a little longer to read, as you have t work through the nuances of the original text through the eyes of the translator, but I was honoured to read it, and will be featuring it on my blog a little later in March!
  • If we were having chai, I’d tell you that the last of the birthday cakes for a while were ordered and eaten on Monday evening. Lil Princess and her Grandad celebrated their birthday, and we ate an abundance of cake, but I think she had a good week, even though it was a little overwhelming in some ways. She is happy, and that is the most important thing.
  • If we were having chai, I’d mention that I was up at the crack of dawn, or before it, on Sunday Morning, to drop Lil Man for his first Sixth form trip abroad! I have been a nervous wreck, as he hasn’t been away without us before! We packed, checked and repacked his bags the night before. He had a worry about losing his wallet just before we left. Then, at 3.45 am, we made our way to school to drop him off. He’d been hesitant about this trip, initially, but today, he jumped out of the car and barely said goodbye to me! We haven’t heard from him as yet, but I can only assume that no news is good news!
  • If we were having chai, I would give you a snippet of Sonu Singh! he’s moping about a little forlornly at the moment. I think he is missing his big brother! But here he is in all his glory, chewing at the plastic wrappings of my flowers! Cheeky thing!

This week, I’ll spend the start being a nervous wreck for two reasons; the first being that Lil Man is away and not back until Tuesday. The second will be because I have my lesson Observation on Tuesday, too. We also have World Book Day on Thursday as well as the second of the Teacher Strikes to contend with, too. No more birthdays to celebrate, but it is the In-law’s anniversary on Friday/Monday, depending on when they wish to celebrate it! One is their Marriage Registration day, on their religious wedding day!

Spidey’s Serene Sunday #416 – Spreading His Wings

“Give the ones you love wings to fly, roots to come back, reasons to stay.”

The Dalai Lama

Oh, Spidey, don’t remind me…

By the time this post goes live, I will have been awake before the crack of dawn, dropping a certain (not so) Lil Man off and back, sitting there, worrying about him for the first of three days…

He’s off abroad with his college for the first time!

And I know this is where it starts.

I am so happy he is going, as he didn’t want to, but I am so aware of children needing to learn independence and share rich experiences.

But… it is so hard letting them go!

The last time he did an overnight trip, it was at primary school. He was in the country, not far away, and my colleagues were the adults supervising, so it didn’t feel so bad.

This time, he will be in a different country in charge of currency, his passport (for a short while, until the teacher in-charge takes it for safe-keeping!) and not going over his roaming allowance on his phone! (As well as looking after himself, not missing time deadlines and keeping track of his luggage!)

Nervous? Me?

Don’t be silly, of course I’m not! (I’m lying… I am really nervous!)

I just want him to have a good time, and a productive trip at the conference he is attending, as well as having fun with his friends.

The thing is, I know I have to get him to spread his wings. In fact, we are actively encouraging it. He takes his A-Levels soon and doesn’t want to go to University, so there is an element of independence that he isn’t going to experience straight away. It’s unlikely that he will leave home any time soon if he starts an apprenticeship, as, well, why would you, if you have a roof over your head and no rent to pay!

Breathe, Ritu, breathe. This is just the start!

So, Peeps, how have you coped with the kids growing up, if you have been through it? 😊

#SoCS Feb. 25,Β 2023 – Prize

Linda’s SoCS prompt…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is β€œprize.” Use it as a noun or a verb; use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

I’m currently writing this from my phone as I wait for my MacBook to do some reinstalling.

I turned it on to write this post and it was doing funny things…

Hope I haven’t become the prize idiot who tinkered where she shouldn’t have…

Yes I have back ups…

But, still… When you log in and your whole desktop disappeared after you followed the instructions on screen… Well, can you blame an author for worrying?

Chai And A Chat #224 #ChaiAndAChat

Hello there! I cannot believe I am back at school today. That week just whizzed by.

I’ll be grabbing sips of a cooling cup of tea, most likely, as you read about my week!

  • If we were having chai,Β I’d start by saying I honestly feel like I need another week off after the excitement of this week!
  • If we were having chai,Β I’d tell you we spent most of Monday and Tuesday getting prepped for our very special guests who were arriving on Wednesday. However, I was always up before everyone else, and as they do like their sleep, so I enjoyed some lovely sunrises!
  • If we were having chai,Β I’d say that it was Valentine’s Day on Tuesday, and though we didn’t do anything special, because Hubby Dearest had a terrible toothache, I did receive some gorgeous flowers!
  • If we were having chai, I’d tell you that A long-awaited visit from the Finndians took place, for a few days. My brother and his family arrived and stayed a few days with us. It was such a special trip, as I finally got quality time with my nephew They are adorable, funny, cute little monkeys with so much energy! We had a blast wth them, but the time just flew by so fast. I am just wishing for the next time we get together.
  • If we were having chai, I’d mention that I was truly run down after the visit and spent most of Saturday in bed with the beginnings of a cold. But, I think I am feeling a little better now!
  • If we were having chai, I would give you a snippet of Sonu Singh! He was unsure of the two little people who invaded his home, if I am honest! Sonu is used to the voices as he is usually sitting by me when we video call, but he’s always been apprehensive of strangers, especially small ones. It took all three days to get him to finally come out of hiding in my office and to sit in a room with the two terrors who really wanted to be his friends. In fact, I know my step count went up as my youngest nephew kept on asking me to go upstairs with him to see if Sonu was still scared or not! Still, here he is in his little tunnel which was his home for the couple of days house arrest!

This week we are back in school. Lots of things going on, as usual, but the biggest will be Lil Princess turning 15 on Monday! I’ve had such a busy half-term week, I hope I can get through the week without hitting exhaustion!
