Bag of Nerves Emptied!

Can you tell from my Bitmoji’s what I am about to announce?

Firstly, thanks to you all for the good wishes/candles/prayers.

I spent part of this morning in tears at school, talking to colleagues, as I was so stressed, and worried about the outcome of the Secondary School admissions process.

Then I tried my hardest to forget until at least 4 pm as that was when the emails were rolling out…

So after despatching me afternoon crazies,  It was around 3.50 pm, I thought i would check my mail.. obviously nothing was going to be there yet… but I saw an email from the Admissions team.

EEK!!!!

They were early!

I actually had to make my self sit down before opening the message as I was shaking.

Then I read it, and read it again. I closed it and then opened it again, and read it. I even got my colleague to read it to confirm.

HE GOT INTO HIS FIRST CHOICE SCHOOL!

The relief I felt was palpable! I nearly fainted!

Then obviously I had to go and find the Lil Man in question. His teacher, who knew how stressed I was, met me on my way, and gave me a great big hug!

Lil Man, well, I got him to read the message himself, and he literally jumped in the air and cried “YES!!!!”

It is a weight off our shoulders. I have told him that now he knows his destination for next year, he should be relieved, and that he  must just try his hardest at school, which we know he already does, and just do his best.  No more negativity, just positive vibes!

Our selection process works on many criteria, that the Local Authority set, and they include Children in care, special needs pupils, siblings, and distance, and if you have applied for a faith school, that is also something that gets taken into account.

So I was so happy that he got in, as I was aware that the school in question was oversubscribed, and that even though we were close, there were man children closer…

But ironically enough, I already know of 2 children who live closer who didn’t get in…

God, you were really looking down on us, and as I said before, all your thoughts and prayers must have played a part too!

Infinity Dreams award

It happened again, another lovely reader of mine, Sabine, nominated me for an award, the Infinity Dreams Award, this time.

It’s been a busy time in the life of Ritu, and in the spirit of giving back, I wanted to reblog the award post, as I can’t fully accept it… But no reblog button!

Sabine!!!!!!

Still, I can link to it, so you, my peeps, can read about Sabine, so here goes, click HERE!!! Andfollow another lovely blog too!!!

Life, Getting In The Way Again!

Well, It’s September, and 2 more holiday days until I go back to school, As the teacher, yes!  Dreading it, but quietly excited too, after all this will be my first full academic year as a teacher, with my own class!

But, with all this fun starting, and family life, there are things that may fall by the wayside, and I don’t want my blog to become one of those things!  So I shall have to be more organised.

I have taken a (painful) decision that unless it is new to me, I may not be able to participate in awards tags.  But as I have written before, here, I hate to ignore, or disregard anyone who has thought of me. So, new Ritu decision, I shall reblog any nominations, and if I am able to participate I will.  But If I can’t, then the reblog will still give my nominator a big thanks, and hopefully some new follows or likes!

Hopefully I shall be able to post daily too, but if I am not here posting, I will be reading.  Where I can I shall be scheduling… you know me, I can;t keep away, and I am sure the new academic year will bring plenty of blogger fodder!

(and the fact that I hit 40 in 2 days!!!!)

Until later Peeps! Have a wonderful day!

Flashback Friday!

You know when you think back to your childhood, there are always certain things that stick in your mind, memories, stories, people, books, toys… all things that were really important to you.  Some things were premonitions of the future too!

I already detailed my love of books as a child, in a series of posts, including Enid Blyton, Roger Hargreaves, Roald Dahl, A. A. Milne, Ann Jungman, and Dr Seuss, amongst many others.

When I go home, I love the fact that my mum is as sentimental as I am.  She keeps so many of the things associated with our childhoods.  It gives me such pleasure to see my own children playing with the things that my brother and I loved as children!

As you will have seen in some of the author posts, she kept many of my books, which my kids love to read now, and so many of our favourite playthings are there too.  From Duplo Bricks, to Matchbox cars, my Cabbage Patch dolls, to treasured teddies, they’re all there!

But what I will focus on right now are two toys that I had, that now my Lil Princess loves to play with.  They are both toys that almost indicate my future and personality!

The first is this,

My Fisher Price Play School!

My Fisher Price Play School!

You know I was always going to be a teacher, don’t you!  and Lil Princess brought this back with her after our last visit, and loves to play schools with it!  I actually can’t believe that all the pieces are there, in tact, and all we needed to get was some  new chalk so she could use the chalk board!

The other toy I found, which is due to celebrate its 39th birthday, as I was given it on my first birthday, is this.

My Fisher Price First Telephone!

My Fisher Price First Telephone!

Yup, this is definitely me, I talk far too much, and a fake phone was exactly what I needed, to stop me chewing everyone’s ear as a child!  I haven’t stopped now, as an adult. The only difference now, is that I know not everyone wants to listen to me constantly, so I channel my babblings into posts for you, my lovely Peeps, to read  instead!  And as I always say, if you really don’t want to listen, you don’t have to read!

But, back to my flashbacks… it is great to be able to share my special toys with my children, and yes, that phone (not that specific one!) was even featured in Toy Story 3!!!!

As the children get older, they will play less with certain things, but fear not,  I have a beautiful Finnjabi nephew (Half Punjabi, half Finnish!) who is still a baby, and getting to the age where he will start appreciating these things too!

Did I mention we still have some original Star Wars figures too…? Maybe I should photograph them too!
