Seriously!!!!
What is with these children??!!
You’d think that after dealing with 20-40 kids a day in the term time, that having just the two at home would be ok…
Well, you’d be thinking wrong!
Heck I’ve taken assemblies with nearly 200 kids, that was an easier ask, than this parenting in the holidays malarkey!
It’s been a week… ONE week. We still have 5, FIVE, to go… And I’m ready to send them to the zoo!
I know it’s their ages, Lil Man is 10 and starting to understand things a little too well, but he still has that innocence and immaturity about him. Plus he thinks he is a martial arts superhero so ther is no such thing as walking, no. He has to highlight every saunter of his with a slight spin and kick, or if Star Wars is on his mind, then well, he’s swinging an light sabre around!
If his sister is annoying him, and I can see the blood about to boil, then usually I can call him aside, remind him she is annoying, yes, and get him to step back. But if I’m not there, the simple solution of a sly kick, or push, or changing the channels on the TV, then hiding the remote, happen, and all hell breaks loose…. Then it’s my blood simmering, and at that blow your top point!
And Lil Princess….. Oh, that little 7 year old madam! You know when she is cute, and sweet, it’s great, but wow, does she have a streak in her! I’m her mum, and I can see it, and I will say it too. I’m not a mother who has blinkers on. She seems so sweet to everyone, but when she wants to, she can be so spiteful!
Twice in the last two days, she has reduced her brother to tears! (And he’s not a crier, ever!) one was a punch, ( a PUNCH!) in the head, because he accidentally hit her with his elbow, while getting off the sofa… And today, he ended up with a scratch on his thigh from her! And her solution? When you see an adult approaching, just cry. The water works will stop you getting told off!
No no! Not this time! Today the children were given a lecture rather than a bedtime story. I had had enough! No amount of taking things away, or those empty threats work now. So I was firm.

Yup, there were tears, but I’m not daddy, or the grandparents, or uncle and aunty. No, I am Bad Cop mum!!!
Seriously, it feels like I am the only one who doesn’t take any of her rubbish. Everyone else gets caught up in the tears, and the Poor Lil Princess routine! And she gets away with stuff, AGAIN!
Well, after that, I’m sat down to watch a film with Hubby Dearest. I needed a laugh, and the film didn’t work! 👿
So Hubby got the short end of my fuse, as I told him what a little s*** our daughter was, and that he was too soft! (Alongside the fact that he couldn’t sort out the film!)
Then the in laws rang to saying they wanted to drop our car off, (they’d borrowed it) and could we then drop them home, well. Another straw on this camels back! It was no big deal really, but Hubby had had a few beers, so he couldn’t drive, and I was in my PJ’s. So guess had to get changed and do the drop off??!! Yup, me. Even thought I said don’t worry, we’ll get the car tomorrow. Nope, it needed to be done now!
So while dropping them, I made sure they knew about the brattish behaviour of their grand daughter, and that once we come back from visiting my parents, that they need to stand firm, and not give in to the tears, especially when they know she is doing something wrong… Got the response I knew I’d get from grand dad (who shares a birthday with the brattish one!) “Oh, but Lil Man does things too…” Yes, I know he does, but you know, we can deal with him. He is ok when we talk, and he tries to act on what we say… Though he does forget, but Lil Princess… She’s another level!
So anyway, they are asleep now, I think. And I hope that the lecture may have sunk in a little to her especially!
Tomorrow is another day, I know, and I hope it’s a good one. We go to Nani and Nanu, my parents, on Tuesday for a few days, and I know they’re looking forward to it, as they always do, but at the moment, I’m ready to cancel if there is any more silliness!
Ok, deep breath!!!!!!!!
I’m ok. I can do this!
Rant over! Lol!!!
Good night all my lovely peeps, positivity reigns!!!
