Flash Fiction for Hurricane Relief #Flash4Storms #LemonSharkCharity

It’s not a chore, you know, when you are asked to write prose for charity.

Well, Sarah Brentyn of Lemon Shark has set up a wonderful challenge with a promise to donate money to a very worthy cause… let me hand over to her…

Harvey, Irma, Maria… These hurricanes have hit hard, leaving massive damage in their wakes. Here’s how you can help:

1. Write a piece of flash fiction in 50 words or less with the theme: Help
(This can be any sort of assistance, support, encouragement, or a story of someone or something that needs help. You do not need to use the prompt word. Be creative! It can be 50 words, 15 words…even a six-word story. Anything goes provided it is prose up to 50 words. It doesn’t have to be sunshine and rainbows but keep it PG and friendly.)
2. Add a new post on your blog with your flash fiction and the hashtag #Flash4Storms in the title
3. Link to this post
4. Leave a comment here with a link to your post so I know you’ve participated
5. Help spread the word on social media with the hashtags:

#Flash4Storms #LemonSharkCharity

I will donate $1 to hurricane relief for every flash that is posted (up to $50).
And to top it all, Diana WP of Myths Of The Mirror has decided to match the donation!
So, here goes! 50 words filled with hope!

After six days of relentless searching, they had all but given up hope.

All that was left of the school was a pile of rubble.

Irma had done her job good and proper.

The rescue team were ready to and admit defeat, when that feint cry was heard… “Help!”

Can I Ask A Question? – Video Related – Upload or Embed?

Hey all! Looking for some advice today!

So, I can upload videos to my WP account to embed into my posts. Recently, they upload, but won’t play in my posts…

So, I am looking at setting up a different account with an outside video hoster to use embed codes.

I have a YouTube account but I don’t use it to post videos. If I was to use it, I don’t necessarily want the videos to be available for everyone to search, but if the clip is on my post I want you, my Peeps, to be able to view.

Do I need to upload using the Unlisted tag, not the Public, or Private?

Is that possible?

Or is Vimeo better?

Or any other suggestions?

Audio file help please!

Ok so a quick question.
What could I use to record a reading, say of my poetry?
Then how could I upload it to WP?
I would love a simple answer. .. as I do to want to do YouTube!

But I Smile Anyway...

Photo-fy Your Comments!

Can I just start this post by saying that I have absolutely no qualifications to guide anyone with regards to blogging! Whatever I have found out in the last 10+ months has been through asking members of my Blogily, and kind readers helping me out.

So, when the opportunity comes to help another, I am more than happy to try and pass on a gem or two of wisdom, if it helps!

Today, in my post about breakfast, Hugh, the reason for the post, was mystified as to how I managed to put an image into my comments! Then my lovely blog sis Judy also piped up that she would love to know how to do that too!

A polite request of a post with instructions from Hugh means I am here typing away!

Actually there is a bit of history to how I finally worked out one way to actually do this. I was as intrigued as Hugh and Judy a few months ago, seeing comments on my posts with images and gifs.  My other Blog Sis Erika and I tried with no luck for ages to learn. We had help from many, but it just wasn’t working.

All we were being told was to find a picture and just use the URL… Copy and paste it into the comments section, and it would work… but it didn’t!  There were many comments we were sending that would just show a jumble of letters, and URLs, but no image.

Then I got a pearl of wisdom from the Leibster Meister himself, Rib Rob of The V-Pub. It was possibly not the easiest way, but hey, it worked for us, and even though I don’t use it often, it is good to know!

So… basically the way I do this mega complex insertion of image into comments is…

… upload the image you wish to use in the comments to the WP Media album.

Then once there, get the details up of the image you want, and you will see an image URL box.

Here is a screen shot of the website Media view.

Screenshot (10)The image URL is the first box.

Or if you use Android, the screen looks like so…

wpid-screenshot_2015-10-11-17-52-38.pngThe URL is already highlighted.

Copy the URL and paste into the comment section, and this is the important bit!

Click into the URL text and remove the ‘s’ from the ‘https’ part of the URL at the beginning.

Then go ahead and press ‘send’, et voila! your image should appear in the comments section!

Go ahead and try it in the comments below, and we shall see if I am any good as an IT teacher, or whether I should just stick to Nursery teaching and smiling!

As I said before, there is probably much easier ways to do this, and if any of you wonderful Peeps know, be sure to share! But hey, it works, and if you are not technically minded, (that’ll be me then!), this is a fool proof way!

I hope it helps!

Err… Durr brain to earth

… So kinda wanted some technical advice peeps… Anyone!
If I want to have a word, or phrase, that links to a specific site, how do you do that?
Not sure how clear that is but I am not that internet/blog savvy yet!
See the image below…

From my blog pal Gabriel

He has used my web link first… Now I can do that one!
But further down, he has the name to my blog, no .com/.co.UK addresses, no https stuff, but if I click on said highlighted phrase, it goes to my blog too…
I wanna be able to do that!!!
Please advice, anyone, in simplistic terms!!!

Thanking you all kindly very muchly indeedy, in advance!
