So that’s where we’re from! Kids Logic pt 2

Asda

Reminiscing about things the kids have said in the past…

One fine example of comedy from my dearest son last year.

Says my Pops to his grandson, ” You know, you are from India originally.”

Lil Man:” No, we’re from Gravesend!”

Pops/Nanu: “No dear, your genes are from India…”

Lil Man: ” No Nanu, my mum said my jeans were from Asda!”

Asda jeans

There was a look of confusion on his face for ages afterwards, he couldn’t work out why we were rolling about, laughing!

Cheesy!

I read some poetry on here, and feeling inspired, I dug out some lines I’d penned a long time ago. I was so impressed with them then, all about love, and feelings….
Read them now and all I thought was “what a load of cheese!!”
Maybe if I want a tidal wave of abuse, or online laughing in my face, I’ll post em as a joke one day… But seriously, they were BAD!!!

Think I should stick to funny, or silly rhymes… Serious n me don’t mix!

Scaredy fruit

IMG_0829.JPG

So, good parents are supposed to ensure their children get their 5 portions of fruit and veg a day, or is it 7 now?

That’s all well and good when your child likes the stuff. My Lil Man, who incidentally is so slight he looks like he’s hardly fed, loves fruit and veg. He’ll happily ask for fruit as a snack, and tries all vegetables we give him. He has them western style, and in good old curry form too. Then runs around like a total loon, and works all he’s eats, off!

But what do you do when your kid is scared of fruit?! Yes, it’s Lil Princess again! When she was a baby, and it was the weaning fun time, I purĂ©ed everything, more varieties than when I had done the same with Lil Man, and she loved pretty much everything… Then I really don’t know what happened.

There had been no distressing situations or stand out incidents, involving fruit, but all of a sudden, all it took was Lil Man waving a banana at her, and she’d be screaming! He liked this new control, and when he wanted the sofa for himself, he’d ask for fruit, so she would choose to sit elsewhere!

When she started nursery and even school, she was offered fruit, and I was intrigued… Did she eat it, or was this just a home thing? But no, she politely declined there too (at least she used her manners there, instead of hollering!) but, the joys of working in the same school as where your children go, I’d get stopped at lunch or in the hallway by a colleague, “guess what? She tried banana/apple today!” It was as much an achievement for her teachers as it was for us at home!

We’ve progressed to school dinners, where I ‘think’ she’s eating more veg, and today she informed me she likes pineapple!

Total list of fruit and veg she will eat
1. Apple
2. Banana
3. Raisins (I know dried fruit, not real stuff, but still!)
4. Mango
5. Honeydew Melon
6. Pineapple
7. Satsumas
8. Carrots
9. Corn on the Cob
10. Peas

But, not with any regularity! Oh well, I guess I’ll have to be happy with what we’ve achieved so far, and just hope this list will extend, and that she’ll eat some every day!

(Oh yes, I’ve tried the old tricks, purĂ©e the veg n add in sauces… Then she picks pasta out and won’t eat the sauce!)

Do you have a fussy eater at home?

My get up and go…

IMG_0826-0.JPG

My get up and go
Just got up and went!
It’s just left me stranded,
In the middle of Kent!
I know the term
Is almost done,
And the last week of term
Is usually such fun,
But my battery’s drained,
Kaput, almost finished,
The energy gone,
I’m feeling diminished!

It’s that time of year, the festive season is almost upon us, school is drawing to a close but, my oh my, I’m exhausted!

It’s not easy being in a class of 30 4-5 year all day then home and being mummy to 3 crazies (cat included!), devoted wife, and responsible daughter-in-law!

I know the holidays bring with them a different type of madness, preparing for Christmas, but at least I won’t be up at the crack of dawn, making packed lunches, dragging Lil Princesses from their beds, and stopping Lil Men from annoying said Lil Princess… I’ll have about another hour in bed before similar situations arise!

Come quickly next Friday… PLEASE!!

It’s Suzy time!

So, lovely Sonu Singh, the Master Cat, will be one soon… It’s his first Christmas coming up and the kids are so excited!

One thing Darling Hubby wishes he could have, is a partner…

Due to where we live, Sonu is a house cat, so he really doesn’t get interaction with other feline company. At 6 months, he had ‘The Op’ as we were advised it would reduce his aggressive hormonal moods…

Oh, Suzy my love!

Oh, Suzy my love!

Whilst arranging this, Hubby Dearest felt so bad for Sonu…
” He’ll never get a chance to ‘be’ with anyone… Isn’t there anywhere he can go, or we could take him, so he could ‘get it on’ with another cat, just the once?”

So, what? Like a cat ‘brothel’?! Well, the lovely Sonu seems to have no need, you see he has a special ‘friend!… Suzy the squirrel!!

Yes, a lovely dog toy the kids thought the small kitten Sonu would like to play with. Well  he certainly likes him, to play with, but not quite playing the games that the kids thought he would!

It’s funny, but every evening, he saunters into my room, Suzy, hanging by her tail, in  his mouth. He then proceeds to climb on MY bed, with eyes  half closed, (his come to bed eyes, I like to think). Then the poor squirrel has no say in the matter, but let’s just say, Sonu tries to have his wicked way with the poor squeaky toy…

I purrrrrrr-really love you Suzy....

I purrrrrrr-really love you Suzy….

Suzy went missing for a few days, and boy was this Kool Kat agitated! It took me 3 days to find her, hiding on top of the kids cupboard…(what she was doing there or how she got there, well we will never know! Maybe she was hiding, feeling violated?!) but all I know is he was one frustrated Kitty! Then, jealousy kicked in, he ignored her for 2 days after I found her, almost as if he wanted to give her the cold shoulder because she had left him! (Hello, Sonu, weirdo cat, she’s a toy, not real!)

And there you have it, cat love! I just had to share, it makes me giggle to see him, and honestly, he is a happy cat, lots of cuddles and fun with the kids, and us adults…. Just don’t forget Suzy!
