I’m not sure whether our challenge day is changing, or it’s just Ron keeping up on our toes, but the challenge I usually complete on a Monday, called out to me on a Sunday this week!
Our prompt words are Trill & Final.
Check the challenge out here
The Match – A Tanka
Twenty two players
Run ragged across the pitch
Fighting exhaustion
The shrill trill of the whistle
Sounds the end of the final

I like using a sports theme. Those prompt words were right for soccer.

A whistle trills perfectly, great idea for a winning haiku.

I enjoyed this haiku. I liked your explanation of missing the ‘sport’ gene. That was funny, lol. Same here, two left feet:)

Lol, thank you!!!
It’s funny but seriously I have NO interest!
Apparently I was good at netball and hockey, but I just had no inclination to follow that… Why would I want to be cold, wet and muddy every Saturday morning??!! (Most training and matches were on Saturdays!)

Completely don’t understand the sport, but this tanka needs no explanation. We’ve all heard a whistle being blown and it certainly trills. Nice one!

Thank you so much! I must confess I haven’t a clue on the spirt, or many others, either!!! But as my son plays, it comes to mind!!!

You do? It is the only sport I can stand anymore. Well, and maybe rugby, and Celtic football.

I must confesd to being allergic to sport lol! My own pops was a jocky player, and athletic stsr at college, my mum played tennis and lacross at school, my brother was playing hockey and cricket for Warwickshire county… Don’t know how the gene missed me, but it did! And in my married home, hubby was a tennis player for Kent county and played football, my son is in an under 11s league footy team, and my daughtet is starting hockey!
But me? Nope, a good book is my sport of choice!!!!
