Where would I be without my parents? My wonderful Pops and Mum?
If it wasn’t for them, and their nurturing, I wouldn’t be who I am today.
They taught me how to walk, talk, live and love. Their unwavering love for my brother and me, their faith in us, has been key in helping us grow.
The love I feel for them is so strong, a bond that can never be broken. I live far from them now, since marriage, but I am still their little girl, and every time I go home, I am transported back to my childhood, even as a 41-year-old mother of 2!
You held my hand
You lifted me
With your love
You gifted meYou helped me grow
You moulded me
Your unerring faith
Emboldened meThe reflection
That I see of me
Shows not one
But all us threeFor into me
You poured your souls
The strength that I
Fulfil my goalsMy love for you
Will never be
Enough for you
To really seeJust how much
You mean to me
My Precious Pops
And my Mummy.Ritu 2017
Talking of parents, I can’t leave out my parents-in-law. Though no one can ever take the place of my own parents, I have been blessed with a set of in-laws that have taken me in as their daughter, not daughter-in-law. I love them too, and not least because they created a most perfect being, my Hubby Dearest, who I love with all my heart.

Oh! Wow! Ritu this is so beautiful, your lovely parents have done a lovely job on you. You are so lucky to have wonderful in-laws too. You are blessed and so are your husband and children because you will pass all the love and nurturing on.
I have not been too well so I have used two of my older post so far I shall try from now on to get my achy head around some new work for tomorrow onwards. Thanks again for a beautiful post. 💗💝💖

Both now dead, but mine were all I could want for all their quirks and nonsenses. Many of their lessons came in the shape of me thinking ‘well I’ll not do that if I’m a parent’ but they did what they did with love and the best of intentions. Best of all they didn’t burden me with any of their expectations and let me be me. That takes true love, to let go and yet be there when you stumble.

Exactly His Geoffleship! True perfect parenting is always a little ‘imperfect’… those quirks make it special!

For me, a child raised by two damaged people whose love couldn’t help but cause damage, this kind of poem gives me the hope I’ve needed to become the kind of parent my own children see more this way.
I’m so happy you’ve been surrounded by so much love!

Aw bless you! I feel that many times a child in that situation goes on to make the best parent… wanting the best for their own kids. My father was a bit like that. His upbringing wasn’t lacking in love bit there were gaps which he plugged, and then some, with me and my brother! ❤

It took me a few years to start to get it right. Fortunately, that was long ago, for them, and we’ve built something pretty amazing here, now.
They will be better parents than I was, at first, if they choose to become parents.
And I’ve had a level of joy in being their mom I would have missed out on, and which didn’t seem to exist in remotely the same way in my family home.
