I’m not ungrateful by any means. I do love the summer, and the warmth… I just wish I wasn’t at school, to actually appreciate it!
I shouldn’t really complain, right?
But you need to understand my plight, right?
Summer’s here in full force, right?
Sun lotion and barbeque sauce, right?
But temperatures over thirty, right?
Leaving me sweaty and dirty, right?
Kids can’t cope with the heat, right?
Ice cream ain’t just a treat, right?
Surely work can’t be legal, right?
I can’t even sleep at night, right?
And don’t get me started on pollen, right?
Itchy eyes, sneezes and throat, right?
I just need a holiday, right?

It’s very hot here on the south coast. I’ve been out in the garden a bit, but only where there was plenty of shade and trying to keep very still. I knew I would miss air conditioning when I retired, but being able to sit in the garden on week days more than makes up for it.

What is the temp there? I know England isn’t used to crazy heat. I recall many of the places I stayed at didn’t have AC! It’s 100 (F) here, currently, and I’m melting! I hate the heat!!

AC is not standard at all here! In school precisely 4 classrooms out of 15 have AC!!! Here in Gravesend we are often known as the ‘Hotspot’ of the UK! We have hit 100 (F) in the past. It is around 95 (F) a lot of the days at the moment!

I was thinking earlier that this happened last year. Nice weather in May, June and then nothing when it came time for the kids to break up. How sorry I was for them then but not now, It’s good they’re not off in this and playing out.
Maybe we can have some cool now and perhaps a little Indian Summer in October for oldies like me. Not too cool though as I still want dark choc ices and ice lollies.

I know you do, but us Brits are not equiped for hot weather! I may be Indian by heritage but I am British born, and my body hasn’t had to deal with that kind of heat! Plus our garmi here is a very uncomfortable one! Prickly heat!

Love this Ritu.. so true.. we are not geared up for this heat in our homes.. No AirCon.. My fans have been whirling away to keep me cool.. 🙂 The school children were not allowed out to play yesterday in the heat.. Thankfully they had air conditioning in their classrooms..
The beach sound just the place to be right now.. Lovely sea breezes..

I would love to be on a beach somewhere too Sue!!! But we have to keep on going! The nursery kids are struggling with the heat. I spent this afternoon squirting them with water from a spray as they played, to keep them cool!

Aww I bet they loved that.. while we do not wish to complain about good weather, as we do not get enough of it.. This heat is very draining, and the older generation too are struggling along with the young.. My Granddaughter on Saturday while in the shade and had a hat on, later in the evening went out with her parents and suffered from heat stroke, feeling sick and dizzy.. She has red hair, and my Son too was the same colouring and felt the heat Quicker than others.. I feel for you in the classroom..

I also feel sorry for the animals! Have you seen how many stories about Dogs dying because of heat stroke? And many times it has not been because the owners have been irresponsible, but because the heat ha been so extreme!
