We’ve completed a week with our two feathered additions, Heer and Ranjha the parrotlets, to the family.
It’s been a time of adjusting and change for all.
As a cat, Sonu Singh is intrigued, but can’t work out why he can’t play with them!
The kids just want them to come out of the cage and perform tricks, or miraculously start speaking – the concept of settling, then training seems to be alien!
Hubby Dearest and I are busy, cleaning the cage regularly, and spending time talking to them. They are too scared for us to get too close yet.
Well, they were… But we had a great breakthrough the other day.
I placed my hand inside the cage and both of them flew onto my hand to eat!
They have, since, done the same on both the kids hands too, and this means they are suddenly more interesting to them. Now they fight to feed them, and I have to stop them from overfeeding the wrong seeds!
Sonu Singh watches…

I’m glad they are adjusting and getting comfortable with human contact Sister. As long as Mr. Sonu doesn’t get that twinkle in his eyes all should be well!

We had a budgerigar when I was around 10-12 and, like your “guys”, he eventually trusted us and seemed ready to be allowed out of his cage. It was a big mistake! My Mom was his favorite person and he would ride around on her shoulder. All was well until she was in our kitchen and somebody opened the back door. He flew out and we never saw him again.

Sonu Singh gets a new interest and the parrotlets get to learn useful phrases like “Here, kitty, kitty!” Well, maybe not that particular phrase….

Parrots are usually interested in human contacts, which can be more challenging, when there are two of them. Good to see, they are not living alone Ritu.
I suppose, that you are keeping an awake eye to your beautiful cat 🙂

Good to hear. This could also stress the birds a lot. Cats are usually good hunters and for them, the birds are very interesting.

I believe so. I have had both birds and cats in same time before and I do remember, this went well with parrots, but not with smaller birds. They were too scared for the cats. Parrots are able to bite very hard, for what the cats get respect.
