“Letting the cat out of the bag is a whole lot easier than putting it back in!” -Anon
I speak from experience here… literally. Not that we put Sonu Singh in a bag… But on the weekend we had that annual vet check, and finally, after four years, that cat realised that the carrier is no fun. It transports you to places of prodding, pricking and pain!
Usually we place the carrier down, and he happily gets in, before realising we are closing a door. This time, he saw, sniffed and scarpered!
There was cat hair everywhere as we attempted to cajole him into getting in! It took a while, catnip spray and a handful of treats, but we did it!
Incarcerated feline!
Thankfully all went smoothly there, despite him deciding that the sink was the best place to sit for his vaccinations, and aside from getting him to drop a few ounces, we have a healthy cat!
Good job he’s cute!
And, to top it off, once he had his jabs, he crept back into his carrier with no fuss whatsoever! Crazy cat!
For Linda’s #1LinerWeds Challenge. (But a lot more than one line!!!)

It doesn’t happen often! Yesterday at 6.15am, he sneaked out while I was putting the rubbish out then hid under my car. He knew I couldn’t reach him. When I finally got him to move (don’t ask how) he ran under Hubby Dearest’s car and looked at me as if to say “What you gonna do now?”
I went in and got a toy I know he likes, dangling it at him. Then when I looked, he wasn’t there!
My heart did palpitations! He wasn’t under my car either!
Had he run away?
But no, he was sat at the edge of the drive, contemplating the road!
I grabbed him and got him inside as soon as I could! Too much drama for first thing in the morning!

Firstly John… I did have to fish you out of the spam folder… how dare Akismet!?!
Secondly the larger carrier may be the next step. He is a big boy!!! He’s about 13lbs or 6kg now x

I hope this doesn’t end up in your spam folder, where a lot of my comments are ending up for some reason.
Sonu reminds me of my dearly-departed cat Willie: the coloring’s about the same (though Willie was more white and a lighter orange) and it looks like he’s a pretty good-sized cat (Willie was over 20 lb). You might want to get him a larger carrier. He looks like he doesn’t have a whole lot of room to move in there…

So true. I’m getting ready to start feeding the feral felines who live at my church inside the carrier for a few days. They will eat in the carrier if I’m far enough away, so it’s a process. When the day comes for me to close the door and take one to the vet, it can get pretty crazy.

Yeah, our big boy cat does NOT go gently. It’s a whole thing with him. My baby boy cat resists, but not with ferocity. My girl cat just gets in like, Okay.
We did have a vet who suggested a big army laundry bag may work better than the carrier for big boy cat, but that didn’t work out.

It is. Why am I wrestling with thirteen pounds of teeth and fur?!? I do not understand why vets know about this and don’t all schedule a few days of housecalls.

Nice work, Ritu. It’s always a toss up on who will win, us or the cat! I was on the phone calling the vet to cancel Crystal’s visit, because I couldn’t get her. When she heard me rescheduling, she came out — I grabbed her. And people think they don’t know what we’re talking about. LOL. π± Hugs.

He is a cutie, and I’m glad it went well. He fits pretty nicely in the sink.
We have to bring the carriers out about a week ahead of the appointments because they hide. We feel so bad because they just cry the whole way to the vet.

I took both of my cats to the vet last week, so I know some of what you went through…times two! I either take the top off the carrier or insert their little bodies feet first. Next time, though, I’m going to try treats.
I think they willfully get back in the carrier at the vet because they know it will take them back home to their warm, soft bed.

Tips for next time … Hire/borrow a basket from a friend, one who’s cat he admires. When Cat smells his friend and doesn’t recognise the basket, in he’ll pop. P. S. The sink would tidy any ‘I’m scared liquid’ away nicely so pat on the back for such an intelligently trained moggy.π
