Linda’s #SoCS prompt this week:
Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “couch” Use it as a noun or a verb. Have fun!
Couch, settee or sofa
What's the proper word?
So many words to descrbe one thing
I mean, that's just absurd!
Now I'm from Luvverly Engerland
And sofa's all the rage
They come in so many colours
From the patterned to the beige
But just to confuse matters
We also say settee
A wonderful place to cosy up
With a book and cup of tea
Our American cousins
Just happen to say couch
And that, to me, seems to be
A great place to slouch
So maybe that's where
The saying came to play
You're a couch potato
If you slouch on it all day!

Ha! Fun, Ritu. Some Americans say “sofa,” but that always sounded a little fancy to my Midwestern ears. Definitely doing the couch potato thing today, only on a dining room chair–catching up on all my fave bloggers!

What fun! The words are confusing. We had a friend from England stay here, and he liked our ‘settee’ – a word I had never heard before. Nicely done, Ritu.

I like when people talk about having a “sofa table” behind the couch.

Over here in we are using sofa as well as couch. In my family, we are more using the word couch.
