Bribery! Works Every Time!

The Prize!

The Prize!

It’s hard enough on the holidays when the kids constantly tell you they have nothing to do, they’re bored, arguing over silly things, telling tales, not allowing mummy to blog… you know what I mean!

Well, things in our Smiley Household have been much like this, especially the last couple of days as Hubby Dearest isn’t here either, so it’s me vs. the crazy kids!

They haven’t been as bad as they could, granted, but there is that constant little bickering, where Lil Princess wants everything, and if she doesn’t get it, I get the whiney “Muuuuuum!” noise, which I cant stand! Or there is Lil Man, who would be glued to his console/Ipad/the TV if given half a chance, or retaliating in a thoroughly boyish way to the annoying habits of his sister, resulting in pushing and shoving.. and I have to say, for a lil fellow, he has a lot of strength!

So today, we popped out to the shops and saw The Bribe Prize!!!!

This the latest phase said crazy kids are going through at the moment, collecting the Lego figures. And they aren’t cheap, at £2 a pop, so when I saw them on offer, I thought “Result!” (yes, arm action used and all!)  I bought them, see the picture, and the kids saw me buy them… but there are stipulations… Play nicely together, be good, try not to be too loud, and please don’t tell tales, then maybe, just maybe, there will be a figure for each of them at the end of the day!

And, guess what? It’s working so far! Lil Man just came up to me to announce that he and his little sister have been playing Lego Star Wars really nicely together!  Which appears to be true, as I have not heard anything from them, other than nice, playing together sounds! (If there was silence, I’d be more worried!)

Tutti frutti Salad!

Nani got the kids working in the kitchen, making melon balls and cutting fruit!
A beautiful fruit salad for a sunny spring day!
Not that Lil Princess will eat it… Did you hear about her issues? No? Well check em out here!
Mind you they even made smoothies, and she had… 3 sips! Well, 3, better than none eh!!

But I Smile Anyway...

Spring Flowers – Kids Logic Part 24

Outside Pops and Mums house

Looking at the beautiful sprung flowers in bloom, and especially the daffodils, reminds me of a day about 3 years ago when Lil Princess was in nursery.
She had been talking about all things ‘spring’ in class and was very excited to share her new knowledge!

Me: So what did you do today in nursery?
LP: I know ALL about spring mummy!
Me: Cool! Like what?
LP: Bunnies and chicks, and lambs and flowers and dandydils!
Me: Dandydils??
LP: Yes, those yellow flowers, dandydils!

She’d mixed up daffodils and dandilions!
I can’t look at the yellow blooms without remembering that conversation!!

But I Smile Anyway...

Foreward planning…

Next week, on Tuesday, I’m off to visit my parents, with the children for a few days.  I will have my phone, and my mum’s PC to post from, but I wont have as much time, as I want to be with them as much as I can, after all, I haven’t seen my mum since early December, and my dad since mid January, and well, I haven’t been back home since August!

I am trying to schedule at least one post for the days I wont be here, but I am sure I will end up posting tid-bits here and there!

But I am so excited! I can’t wait to be my parents Lil Princess for a few days, as well as having my own Lil uns with me!

So, forgive me if I am not bombarding you with as much, but hey, you might find some gems come out of the few days I have there with them too!

But I’m still here until Tuesday morning, so I wont be neglecting you!!!!

Soap Operas – Kids Logic Part 23

I love a bit of Eastenders, and the children have, on occasion, been known to watch the odd supervised episode with us…

I switched on the telly this morning and some other soap was playing a repeat episode.

LM: Mum! Is this Nextenders?
Me: No Son…
LM: Oh so it must be Coriander Street then!

I’m so glad that they don’t watch too much TV! Evidence in the fact he can’t get the names right!

He meant Eastenders, and Coronation Street!
