What a lovely couple!

The other week Hubby Dearest was in the City for work. As he works from home nowadays, it’s a treat for him to get out and about, and I let him off the leash on those days, you know, it’s ok to go have a drink with some of your old work mates close by, I’m nice like that, see!

Well. I got a message from him saying he’ll be leaving about 7.45pm. Great, home by 9ish. That’s cool! I got dinner ready with that in mind.
9 came and went and no message, no call. I started to worry. Thing is that week, there had been a stabbing just around the corner from our house, which is actually usually a very safe place. All manner of things go through your head. I have no trust issues with him, but I worry about what someone else could do to him…

So, anyway, no message, no call. Then, *ting!* bright idea! I’ll ring his work phone! I forgot he had one of those! He answered pretty sharpish, he has to, you see! And he was short with me on the phone. Just mentioned he had met one of our friends, who is partially sighted, with his guide dog, on way home, and they went for a drink, and were on their way home. If he didn’t get off the phone they would miss their train, and he cut me off.

Phew! At least I knew where he was. He called 10 minutes later and said “Thanks, we missed the train! Don’t know when the next one will be.”

Oops!

Well, to cut a long story short, over an hour later, he was back home. I had heard that there was another knife attack near the station here that night too.. Worried again!

He walked in and I was all ready to launch into a tirade about how worried I was, and all that stuff, but then he told me how he had met our friend. At the station, with blood on his face. It appears that for the first time, while walking with his Guide Dog, he managed to walk into a lamp post. So they did the obvious thing, went to the pub! Obviously to clean him up, and have a medicinal drink or three.

Hubby Dearest was amazed at how the dog enabled them to get in to everywhere with ease! Even a casino, because that’s where you go with a bloody nose! As they walked, our friend held Hubby Dearest’s left arm as an extra guide. During these strolls, they were apparently stopped a couple of times with people commenting what a nice couple they made!!!!

I’m sorry but this is where all my anger flew out the window! My Hubby Dearest is quite a pretty lad, and he does look after his appearance, but he definitely likes girls, well, me!! He was in shock that people thought they were a same sex couple! Even our friend commented that in the last few years, since his sight had got worse, he has walked with many people, holding their arms, but never had that happened!!

Hee Hee!

It just had to happen, didn’t it…

Please?

So I’ve sorted the Man Flu out…
We’ve been hit with The Lurgy again…
It’s been going on since October…

And it’s hit ME again now, today.
Great.
I was fine this morning, spent a great morning with Lil Princess, had lunch, felt a bit groggy and lay down.
Got up with the ability to swallow greatly hindered, and earache.
This is NOT GOOD!
Especially on HER birthday!
Thank goodness we are getting take-out as per her wish, and the cake is ready!
But will I get a day to rest? Will I heck!
I’m a mum remember!
Somehow I’ll still have to function as usual, then I can have an early night…right?
Yeah right!
Early night? Whatever!!

I’ve met very few mums who actually get a chance to be ill, when they’re under the weather. Could this be why we end up rattier in temperament than the rest?

Empty threats

I have lost count of times I have ‘cancelled’ Friday, aka Lil Princess’s birthday, over the last few days!
If I haven’t cancelled, I’ve threatened to cancel.
Why do I bother?
It happens all the time.
Things go wrong, behaviour hits an all time low, and I resort to these ’empty’ threats. I mean really? Am I that strong that I could cancel a birthday?!
Nope, I really couldn’t. I’m too soft.
I mean, I have the power of the banshee, at times. Even Hubby Dearest gives me a look when they drive me so insane that I can’t stop but shout.
But its all just noise, isn’t it?
Lil Princess, still getting in our bed, every night… No taking things away or canceling of things, or the threat of, has worked.
Lil Man, the same. Silly repetitive behavior, and the thought of no football, or Dhol lessons, might stop things for a short while, but its all back to the same old within days or hours even…

Where am I going wrong? Maybe one day I really do need to ‘cancel’ something…
(I might make something up, and cancel that!)

I survived!!!!!!!!

Back from shopping and I’m still in one piece!
Pre birthday girl is happy, she came back with her new rainbow tiger bear, and another gift from our friends who we were meeting!
We ate at Giraffe, at her request, yet she was the only one to not eat most of her food! Though the Krispy Kreme doughnut for pudding seemed to dissapear with alarming speed!!

Lil Man excelled himself… Not good…
He wanted this secret spy pen, it writes with invisible ink and shows up with an ultra violet light. We get home and he wrote on the cupboard!!! WTH??!!
Then I shone the light and found this on his trouser leg too!

Yup, he’s invisibly stamping himself!!!!
Jeez, these kids!!!!!

Day Four of the Holidays!

Yesterday was fairly uneventful, in the grand scheme of things…
I managed to get the Lil Princess’s cake ordered for Friday, make yummy pancakes, but no homework.. The lurgy proved too much for the Lil Princess, who languished in my bed most of the day!

So for today the plans are,
Get off my butt, and stop reading blogs!
Shower and get ready!
Take kids out to the local shopping mall, we are meeting their friends for lunch there, pre birthday treat for the Lil Princess!
Pop in to the In-Laws
Watch the 30th birthday live Eastenders special!!

Have a lovely Thursday everyone!!!!
