The Daydreamer Challenge Day 5 – Why Blog?

wpid-the-daydreamer-challenge.png

Today’s challenge…here…!

So, why do I blog?  I think I’ve touched on this a few times when answering questions on award tags, but essentially, I blog because I enjoy it!

A short 4 months ago a friend of mine started a blog, as a way to air her views about people in her life, and it was a way to vent her views and frustrations.  I read the first post and was so impressed, I went to like it, and as it was on WordPress, I needed to log in, or sign up.  Well, that was like a red rag to a bull for me! Sign up? Yes please! then there was the option to start a blog of my own… Why not I thought! But what was I going to blog about?

Ever since I was young, I have liked to write, and this seemed like a way to get back into it, and on the way see whether there was anything that I wrote that was actually read and appreciated by others!  I have written stories, and started what I would like to be proper books in the past but never been able to finish them. Plus I generally talk too much, and this was a way to control my verbal diarrhoea! I could spout out via my keyboard, and if someone wanted to read, they could, or else just scroll on!

Slowly I ventured through test posts, to a bit of fiction, poetry, memories, recipes, photos, my thoughts and opinions, day to day posts about my family and obviously Sonu Singh, the cat! Slowly things picked up and I got such wonderful feedback from those that had started to follow me, and it has made me feel like hey, I actually can write, and what I write does appeal to someone out there!

Back to some of my favourite posts… that’s a hard one, as I have written rather a lot!
Twelve Days Of Holidays Poetry
But You’re OK Opinions
Purrrrst Love Sonu Singh
32″ Waist Here I come! Opinions
The Coffee Shop Fiction

The following two are my own brand genre of fiction, Chick Pea Lit Curry, girlie fiction with an Indian Masala twist!
Nikki’s World Part 1
Nikki’s World Part 2

There are so many that I enjoyed writing, but these are a flavour of me, I guess!

What do I want to achieve from blogging?

I don’t think that there is anything I really wish to achieve, other than continue to develop my love of words… And if somewhere within that experience, someone out there feels I might have a talent, they can encourage me, and push me to do what I would love and that is to write full time! Other than that, if I entertain you, I am happy!

A question for my fellow bloggers…

Would you like one of your posts to go viral?

Ok, Adios Amigos! ‘Til tomorrow!

7 Things about me…

As I’m sat back at home, I think it would only be apt to think of 7 things from when I was little!

  1. When I was born, my Pops was so happy, he distributed sweets, which, nearly 40 years ago, was not the done thing, you only celebrated a boy in that way!  See, my parents taught me self respect, and the importance of a woman early on!
  2. Apparently I looked like a  doll when I was little!
  3. I loved reading so much I would finish book after book by a very weak light every night, and it resulted in me needing glasses at 11… but I wouldn’t change anything, that thirst for words has got me where I am now!
  4. I tried to be sporty, really I did… I come from a family of sports men, and women, my Pops was a high jump record holder at school, and he was an athlete, and played hockey, mum played lacrosse and tennis, and my brother, well he played county level hockey and cricket. I sometimes liked a bit of netball, and badminton, and joined a tennis club, but it was very short lived! I’d rather dance, or read!!!
  5. I was a nightmare eater, my mum would cry because I wouldn’t eat all her wonderful elaborate meals, made specially for me, as a baby, and child… but hey, I grew up ok1 And I’m making up for it now, I think I eat rather too much!!!
  6. I had my tonsils out at the tender age of 4, and was so happy that I was allowed to eat ice cream, as much as I wanted!!!
  7. And it’s not from my childhood, but related to being home… I fear I have eaten so much this last few days that I have put on about half a stone!!!!!!

Napoli sauce!

It’s been a while now, a Hubby Dearest asks me to make a ciabbata sandwich with Chicken escalopes, some mushrooms, cheese and napoli sauce.

Napoli sauce? What is it? Never heard of it! So I have done some research, and basically it’s an Italian tomato sauce, pretty much like what I would make for a pizza topping, or basic pasta sauce. Anywho, I found a recipe  here and followed it, adding a little sugar as I didn’t get the ‘special tinned ones they recommended!

It’s simmering away as we type/read!

…bubble bubble, toil and trouble…

Looking good so far!

So what did I use?

Half a finely chopped onion

2 cloves minced garlic

1 tbspn red peppers finely chopped

1 veg stock cube

One 400g tin chopped tomatoes

Half tbspn tomato pure

Half tspn oregano, dried

Half tspn dried basil

Half tspn dried parsley

Pepper to season

1 tspn sugar

  1. Fry onions in a little olive oil til golden brown then add peppers and garlic
  2. Cook until you can smell the garlic
  3. Add the tomato purée and cook off for 1 minute
  4. Add everything else, stir and simmer on low heat for about 45 minutes
  5. Stir through half tbspn Olive oil and allow to cool
  6. Store, and enjoy whenever!

Cooked, reduced, cooling ready for jarring amd using whenever we want!

It looks good, and tasted pretty yum too!

Ready to be stored for use whenever

Top with a little olive oil, store in the fridge and use within a month!

I found it quite strong initially so I added another small can of tomatoes and there’s the new improved version!

And here’s the Chicken Escalope Ciabatta sandwich he was asking for, complete with mushrooms n cheese!
