WRITESPIRATION COMPETITION #118 52 WEEKS IN 52 WORDS WEEK 22 – Super-Bad Villains!

Sacha has introduced a twist this week, with her #Writespiration prompt… read on to find out!

Write a piece of fiction with the most superbad villain you can in exactly 208 words.

Because this competition will run for four weeks, and writespiration this year is 52 words in 52 weeks, I’ve added all four weeks word counts together. So you will have EXACTLY 208 words to write this story/villainous piece of flash.
What am I looking for?
A seriously kick-ass villain. That’s it. It can be a short story, poetry, flash, or even an excerpt from an unpublished story. But it has to be about a villain and it must be 208 words exactly.
How To Enter:
Send your entry with your name, website (if you have one) email address, twitter handle if you have one, postal address for the signed copy to sachablack@sachablack.co.uk
Your entry piece should be in a word document, with a title. Please note, the title is not included in the 208 words.

Ok, so I am not the best villainous writer, but here is my take!

Serena’s Secret

Pushing the final bolt in place, Serena turned and leant against the door.
Finally, she would be able to get to the bash, and claim that award for herself.
There was a banging on the door. “Let me out! Serena! Please! I need to get to London in the next hour!”
“Sorry…” She whispered to the door as she turned on her heels.
The train left at 8.32am.
Sitting in the rocking carriage, she thought back to the day she realised that there was a big chance she wasn’t going to win.
She had been contacting all her friends, telling them to vote for her, and had even made an arrangement with several local businesses who had a plethora of computers. Vote for her and she would offer them free advertising on her blog!
Typical that her main competition happened to be her sister, that they had been put up against each other, and that she has overheard some of Serena’s conversations… She had threatened to tell the organisers about the cheating, and there was no way Serena could risk all her hard work…
Oh well, if Maria couldn’t be there, she would be unable to grass her up.
Meanwhile, Maria took her phone out to call Sacha…

Connections

wp-1483271687117.png

It’s easy to stay connected nowadays, isn’t it?

What with everyone cradling a mobile phone, you are always a mere message away from connecting with someone.

And with all the different versions of social media out there, Facebook, WhatsApp, Skype, Twitter, Instagram etc. it is even easier.

Heck, you can connect with whoever you want to, whether it is by just following and liking a celebrity’s photos, or by commenting on blog posts!

Then you have all these new-fangled ways to make ‘love connections’; Tinder, Grindr and all these kinds of apps. They are a bit beyond me, I went the old skool way of actually meeting a person, not using photos to reel my man in!

But with the ease by which we can maintain these connections, though very accessible, are they real?

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love interacting with family, friends and Blogily on all these various mediums. I’d be the last person to say they shouldn’t exist!

But what about old fashioned connections?

What about actually getting off our phones, off our arses, and going to meet people? Or what about actually using our phones to shock, horror, speak to someone, rather than sending messages, or forwarding chain mail?

In my eyes, nothing beats the physical sensation of meeting someone, face to face, and being able to engulf someone, or be engulfed in a huge hug!

That is the way I felt last June when we all met up for the Annual Bloggers Bash Awards, take 2!

My life in the blogosphere started in November 2015, and slowly, I built up an amazing collective of bloggers, who I like to affectionately call my Blogily. We interacted on a weekly, if not daily, basis and these names became part of my everyday life.

For a non-blogger, understanding the importance of these folk would be hard. In fact, even though I kinda knew what my blogily meant to me, I sometimes found it tough to comprehend exactly how these virtual strangers had come to mean so much.

But that day in June, finally seeing so many faces, in the flesh, not just that Gravatar photo, was truly amazing!

As I hugged my way across the room, each person became more real. And not only were old connections reinforced, but new ones were established too.

It was a wonderful day!

Let us all connect
In every way possible
Join lives together
We are all of one planet
Let us be of one soul too

My entry for the ABBA Blog Post Competition.

A competition for us all! ABBA hype about to start here!

You know I mean The Annual Bloggers Bash Awards, and not Abba the group, don’t you?!

bash-comp-2017

Well, last year, I attended the second bash and it was amazing to finally physically meet bloggers who I had interacted with for over a year!

This year it promises to be even bigger and better, and the committee have set up a competition for all bloggers to enter, with some amazing prizes!

There is a little fee, but it is for funding the bash, and making it even more amazing than before!

For some reason I couldn’t just repost or share the post, but if you click here, you will get to the original post, so you can see if you would like to enter!

The BIG UK Vs. USA Debate – Malteasers Vs. Whoppers!

My post for Hugh’s challenge this week, featuring Malteasers, started a little debate between myself and PJ of Priceless Joy blog fame.

2016-03-25-19.08.43.jpg.jpeg

Well, debate may be a bit of a strong way to describe, but I am a firm Malteaser fan. I may go so far as to say they are my most favourite chocolate treat EVER!

So it was interesting to hear that the US had their own version, called Whoppers. PJ was sceptical that the US one would taste better than the UK one, and being a bit biased, I was inclined to agree… I have tasted American chocolate several times, and I’m sorry but I much prefer my UK chocolate thank you very much!

So when my family and I went for a day out to Lakeside Shopping centre yesterday, it wasn’t my intention to do this, but we passed a candy store which holds all manner of imported US candy.  I asked out of curiosity whether they stocked these Whoppers.  Alas they didn’t… but there was another store of a similar ilk that was possibly a stockist.

Right! This was great! I was so excited! I could feel a comparison post coming on, if only I could get hold of these Whoppers… and YES! They did!

So armed with my boxes of chocolates, purely for research purposes, I’ll have you know, I came home and the eating  reviewing and eating photographing commenced!

Sorry, but I love my Malteasers packaging too much… so that was one point to them straight away!

Now to look at the product itself…

2016-03-26-12.13.27.jpg.jpeg

Note the glossy finish of the Malteaser, compared to the misshapen sphere that is the Whopper… Hmmm… another point to the Malteaser for appearance!

And then the biggie, the taste test!

A Whopper, has that different aftertaste, chocolate wise and the ‘malt’ or honeycomb inside was rather hard and dense to bite into.

A Malteaster, the chocolate was beautifylly milky, and the honeycombe centre, light, yet crisp.

Point 3 awarded to Malteasers!

I got the family to do a blind taste test too, and they were all unanimous in choosing Malteasers as the best taste!

An amendment here, Lil Princess liked the look of Malteasers but thought the Whoppers tasted better! Sheesh! I’m going to sent her to live in the US, traitor!!!

Sorry USA, but I think we won this one hands down!

And if you would like to read about more of my Malteaser adventures, click here! Malteasers apparently help with mindfulness!

(Shhhh! Don’t tell anyone but I have hidden the rest of the Real Malteasers now! They are mine… all mine!!!! Mwahhhh ha ha ha!)
