From Which Company?? Kids Logic Part 12

She never ceases to crease me up, my Lil Princess!!
So tonight we were trying to ring her uncle and aunt, but no answer. I rang my brother-in-law’s (BIL) mobile and handed it to her.

Me: Talk to him when he answers please.

Lil Princess sat holding the phone and it rang and rang, no answer, until the answering machine kicked in.

BIL’s phone: “Hi, you’re through to *** at Pitney Bowes…”
LP: Muuuum! He says he’s picking his nose!

I cut off the phone and was literally rolling about on the floor!!!!

Yet another children and what they hear classic!!!

But I Smile Anyway...

Where do you find love? – Kids Logic part 11

Don’t you just love it when kids ask you certain questions? It was a conversation with Lil Princess about love today… And Lil Man joined in.

LP: Mummy, where do you find love?

Me: What do you mean?

LP: Like when I want to get engaged, where do I go to find a person?

LM: Just on the street, you know, you just meet them!

LP: No, Mummy, tell me!

LM: Ask Daddy. (Funny, as I am always telling them to ask Daddy instead of me all the time!)

LP: But I want to ask Mummy, because she’s a girl, and so am I! So Mummy, where did you find Daddy?

LM: They met at university, don’t you know?!

LP: But Mummy, how did you know you were going to get married?

How do I get into these conversations with children…? !

#Blogging101 The Face Behind ‘But I Smile Anyway’

Hi there!

My name is Ritu, and I am a working mum.  So I have many jobs, I guess you could say!

At home, I am mummy, wife, daughter-in-law extrordinaire, and at work I am an educator to a bunch of beautifully crazy kids!

I love to write.  I have been writing since I was a tiddler, fiction, poems, you name it, I wanted to write it.  But the responsibilities of life kept on tearing me away from actually doing what I loved.  After seeing a friend of mine start a blog, I thought “Well, now there’s an idea!” An invitation to log in, or create an account, and well, you can see what I clicked on!

I love a good chit chat, and when no one wants to listen, I have to shut up, but hey, on here, I can type to my hearts content, and say what I want, whether its recounting a funny story, an opinion on a topic close to my heart, or showcasing my writing when inspiration hits. My children provide much inspiration for many of my posts, as do my family. My cultural background gives me much fodder too.  And it inspires me, words pour out of my mind, and onto the screen, whether it be a poem, or an informative piece.

I started blogging at the end of November 2014, and have really enjoyed my experience so far, and hope to continue to do so!  I have been enjoying the interaction with all my followers, and those that I follow immensely, and I am looking forward to being able to have the same relationships with many of you too!

I never thought that in such a short space of time, I would be being read by as many as I am, but I always strive to better myself, and I would love to encourage more readers, and get some feedback on what I do write.

Happy reading everyone!

What they hear vs. What we hear… Kids Logic Part 10

Last night the kids were sat next to me watching The Voice UK and as usual Lil Princess was unable to contain herself, she grabbed one of the mics from our Playstation Sing Star set and belted out

LP: Annie are you ok? Are you ok innit!

Since when was Michael Jackson speaking Hinglish

And the dictionary identifies how the ubiquitous “innit” was absorbed into British Asian speech via “haina” – a Hindi tag phrase, stuck on the sentences and meaning “is no?”.

The last time I heard, Smooth Criminal was set somewhere in the U.S.!!

It reminded me of a time when Lil Man was being educated in urban music, with my Trevor Nelson CD.

We were listening to Adina Howard’s Freak Like Me and a short rap comes on

“1 to the 2, to the 2 to the 3

Adina do you wanna get freaky with me.”

Lil Man’s version?

LM: 1 to the 2, to the 2 to the 3

Baby do you wanna get a sweety with me!

I prefer his version!! Every time I hear the song, I sing that now!

Do you have any great misheard lyrics? Kids do it all the time!!

Guess who? – Kids Logic Part 9

Go on, guess!

We were at that painful stage, last week, of paying for our new bed.
Lil Man rushes up to me.

LM: Mum! I NEED your phone!
Me: Why do you NEED my phone?
LM: To take a picture! Quick!

He came back with the above photo.

Me: What is it?
LM: Not what mum, WHO!
Me: OK, Who is that?
LM:(looking at me like I’m dumb, because I didn’t get it!) Bob Marley!
