The Holidays Are Here!

I have spent my first vacation day in a truly lazy manner! Dozing on the couch, and eating takeaway!

But I had a wonderful last day of term! There was so much love, so many hugs from my little babies!

There were tears too, from Lil Man, and his classmates, as they were saying goodbye after being together for the last 7 years. So he enters a new phase in his life, and sheds that Primary School Boy tag, to now don the Secondary School Boy one!

I was inundated with gifts and cards again from my students, which was totally unnecessary, but so appreciated. Every year it humbles me how much these parents and kids think of us!

Handmade gifts, and cake! Pens, lots of pens, and chocolates! Flowers, and my first award! Check it out!

How sweet!

Then we were given a card which was written so sweetly, I just had to share…

This was to our whole team!

I’m not a meany. I wanted to do something that would show my appreciation but not just by giving a bunch of sweets, so I did what I enjoy a lot, and wrote a poem! This I then made into bookmarks, and explained to my munchkins that as they grow, they will read, and they should use this bookmark… so they don’t forget where their learning, and hopefully, love of books was cultivated!

From School to Nursery

When you started
You were so small
Now in a year
You’ve grown so tall
Without your mums
You’ve learnt to stay
With all your friends
You’ve learnt to play
Being your teacher
Has been such fun
We can’t believe
Our time is done
And come September
You’ll start big school
We hope you’ll find
That learning’s cool!

Hope you all enjoy your weekends and holidays if you are on them too!

#SoCS July 16/16 If/Then

Linda’s SoCS prompt today…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “if/then.” Begin your post with the word “If.” For bonus points, end your post with a phrase containing the word “then.” Enjoy!

If I’ve done my job correctly

And my students are prepared

Then transition to their big school

Won’t leave them feeling scared.

A little ditty dedicated to my first ever class of children who are stepping up big time, from nursery to real school in September!

#RomanticTuesday – Eternity

So, it’s not like  I have nothing better to do… the last term of the academic year means my first set of end of year reports, and that is a BIG task!

But then my Blog Sis Erika throws me a spin ball, and I have to hit it! She has opened the challenge to write something romantic on a Tuesday! #RomanticTuesday.

Eternity – A Tanka

When two become one
Unspoken vows are taken
Simply, hearts exchanged
A love that lasts forever
Promise of eternity

Don’t Take Life For Granted

Saddened by a few pieces of personal news this week…

Words flow from strange places…

Image from Google

Life, it has no permanence
Life gives no guarantees
So we should live it fully
And do the things that please

Life, a gift bestowed on us
Like a seed, once planted
Water it, nurture it, help it grow
Don;t take life for granted

Ronovan’s Weekly Haiku Challenge #81 – Trill & Final

image

I’m not sure whether our challenge day is changing, or it’s just Ron keeping up on our toes, but the challenge I usually complete on a Monday, called out to me on a Sunday this week!
Our prompt words are Trill & Final.

The Match – A Tanka
Twenty two players
Run ragged across the pitch
Fighting exhaustion
The shrill trill of the whistle
Sounds the end of the final
