#SoCS Dec. 10, 2022 – Dict

Linda’s SoCS prompt.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “dict.” Find a word that contains “dict” and use it in your post. Have fun!

I am an addict

A stationery addict

A chocolate addict

A book addict

A hug addict

The first means I am always prepared with pens and paper, fancy highlighters, stickers and post-its, and all manner of markers and pencils, washi tape and journalling stickers. The problems arise when I don’t want to use them because they look so good!

The second, well, I know I am not alone…, and it’s an addiction that hurts no one else. Only me when I stand on the scales… Oh, and sometimes chocolate overload makes me itch, but I can handle a bit of scratching for that yumminess!

The third may hurt my pocket a bit, but it’s a sacrifice I am willing to make as I always have something to entertain me!

And the last – my favourite! Hugs make so many things in life better, don’t you think?

Above all else, each of these things make me feel good, so I am not holding back!

#SoCS Dec. 03, 2022 – Twin/Tween

Linda’s SoCS prompt.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “twin/tween.” Use, “twin” or “tween” any way you’d like. Bonus points if you use both. Enjoy!

This year, for the first time EVER in our school, I have FIVE sets of twins!

  • two x identical male set
  • one x non identical male set
  • two x boy girl set

I tell you what, it’s fun in our classrooms at the moment…!

And, I pity those families when these lot hit their TWEENS. It was hard enough with one at a time, but two? Double the trouble, double the fun!

#SoCS Nov. 26, 2022 – Plates

Linda’s SoCS prompt.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “on your/my plate.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

What do you have on your plate?

I don’t mean food. Rather, do you have patterned plates and matching crockery?

I remember that for my mum, Corningware was the thing.

We had that set that I think most Indian families outside of India had at some point, called Spice of Life, but it was just the casserole dishes at that time.

Then mum discovered the whole sets and we were blessed with a beautiful Shadow Iris set. But we rarely ate from it. It was saved for when guests came over!

When I got married, Mum bought me the whole Callaway Ivy set.

And when I mean the whole set, I am talking EVERYTHING!

I have the dinner plates and side plates, cereal bowls, small bowls, large bowls, oval dinner plates, serving dishes, casserole dishes of several sizes, a teapot, teacups/mugs and saucers, milk jug, sugar pot, salt and pepper shakers, as well as matching table mats!

There is probably more, but I can’t remember. I am as bad as my mum, and have these all stored away for special occasions!

The thing is, I always loved the Shadow Iris set.

So a couple of years back, before COVID struck, my mum decided to take the set she had stored safely and decided that the mismatched crockery I was using needed to be replced by something better, and I was gifted a set of Shadow Iris Dinner plates, Side Plates and bowls. Oh, and some table mats that matched too!

She still had more left after giving me a set of 12 of each. (We have a big family. Mum liked to be prepared, so she had 24 of everything!) But 12 would be more than enough plates for me and would also allow for any breakages – inevitable in my household!

So nowadays, I love what is on my plate, under the food – my Shadow Iris pattern!

#SoCS Nov. 19, 2022 – Morning

Linda’s SoCS prompt.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “morning.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

I do love a morning.

I am definitely a morning person, more as I get older.

That peace and quiet I get on the weekend before the teens arise and before Hubby Dearest (who is a night owl to my early bird) gets up is my special time.

I spend time with my Sonu Singh, read, chill out, have a cup of tea, and enjoy the moments.

Because my weekday mornings are nothing like that.

Getting up super early because I have to is different to waking up earlier than the rest on other days. I have to coordinate myself and the teens, get bags organised, lunch sorted, breakfast eaten, and beat school at a decent time so I can be chilled out when the children arrive!

However, I do get a little miffed at my weekend morning partner, Sonu Singh, who decides to sing into my ear early every day because he’s a cat, and, well, FOOD!

#SoCS Nov. 12, 2022 – Cel-ebrations!

Linda’s SoCS prompt.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “starts with or contains ‘cel.’” Find a word that begins with or contains “cel” and use it in your post any way you’d like. Have fun!

I am late because I was out last night, at a celebratory meal with my colleagues!

Sorry for the delay! But we needed to let off steam after a highly stressful few years and a tense last few weeks.

It involves the dreaded OFSTED, and our results, which I am still hesitant to put on the blog, as the report is due to go live on Monday, but I thought I’d share a photo of the little chocolate our Head had printed, with a direct quote from one of our pupils to the Inspector.

It truly sums up what our school strives to instil in every child, and that quote says a lot…

Off to be lazy again!
