I really thought I’d be up to it by now…

A few weeks away from the writing pressure I put upon myself, of writing posts regularly, and I thought I’d be itching to get back.
But I’m not.
I still enjoy being here, reading posts, commenting on others, but I can’t make myself write.
My brain is just not engaged at all.
It’s like a cloud has settled over my blogger’s brain…

I feel like I’ve lost my spark…
I’m not in any sort of depression, I don’t think, I’m just so tired.

It happens at the end of the academic year.
There is so much to do at school on top of the day to day pressures: assessment, report writing, home visits, class lists to make for the next year… all things that take a lot of thinking and time.

Home is the same: housework, family to feed, helping with homework, laundry, being the usual parent taxi to clubs and matches…

I am taking down time, honestly, but instead of posting, as I usually do, I’m just reading. Enjoying books and reading posts.

But the lethargy I feel, and the migraines that are coming back after a two month hiatus, it’s not good.
I’ve entered that novel writing competition, tweaking the first 3,000 words that needed submitting, but don’t want to touch the rest of the manuscript, to execute some changes as suggested by my alpha readers.
Not because I can’t be bothered, but because I don’t feel up to my best, mentally and emotionally, and my prized WIP deserves more than that, maybe a CampRiNo in the summer holidays again, to give it the extra oomph it requires…
So, I’ll just leave that there for you all, in case you find my spark… or any extra energy you can send my way…
But don’t worry Peeps, I’m still smiling, because that’s what I do 🙂

I totally understand how you feel, Ritu. I get that way at the end of the year, too and I’m working part time in the library! So I can just imagine how a teacher feels. Your writing spark will come back. You just need to rest. My writing slows down at the end of the school year, too.

I’d call it a natural kick back Ritu. Intense writing often leads to a writers hangover. If the routine of doing it suddenly ends then fog hits and sometimes you just need to step away for a break. King says finish it in first draft then stick it in a drawer for a month before going back. It lets the brain settle and the approach later is fresh again. Obviously, if you spend to long in this sparkles place I’ll be back 😍

Loved your post! Your emoji’s are great! You are right to take time when you need it. You might want to try what I like to do – #1 – Write Haiku – 17 syllables in 3 lines; quick, simple and done! a finished piece! #2 – when I read the works of others I’m always on the lookout for really great words/phrases and lines that are seeds of inspiration or little gems that I save in a Word Bank for future use.
I have had numerous times when I couldn’t even get them recorded in my Word Bank because the words just started coming in a stream of consciousness, which is so wonderful. It makes reading the works of others even more fun!

It’s just a season and time for you to “fill the well.” And… Here’s where the 99 word constraint can be used. By now, it’s imprinted a pattern on your brain. It’s the same idea behind building healthy habits. Write how tired you are this time of year in 99 words. Brainstorm post ideas in 99 words. Write about your WIP characters in 99 words. By the time you write three, you’ll experience a spark! It’s flash magic (based on science). And your smile is always uplifting! ❤

Mental exhaustion will take it’s toll temporarily, but it will pass. Both of my blogs have been neglected from work exhaustion. However, mine has passed from inspiration that comes to me. LOL! I’m still waiting to use the “pockets of sun in the evening sky” that almost caused several accidents because I was so in awe as I was driving home (day after day) and I wasn’t paying attention to the road. LOL! Long story short, give yourself time to recover and let inspiration come to you.
