Colleen’s Weekly #Tanka Challenge #108 – Afraid & Grave #MicroPoetry #Etheree

Colleen’s tanka challenge, as always includes the premise that only synonyms for the prompt words must be used…

This week, the words were;

Afraid & Grave

Fear, Buried, Horror, Scared, Stress

Fear of
Trapped underground
Whilst I’m still breathing
Unable to get out
My cries falling on deaf ears
Will I ever see light again?
Pounding the walls of my confinement
Knowing I’ll never get a chance to live…

    Oh my goodness! Your poem chilled me to the bone. I’ve had nightmares like this. The imagery is so frightening. Loved it!

    Yikes… this poem could have a movie made about it! Didn’t Edgar Allan Poe do something like this? Oh, yes… it was about a heartbeat… Happy Scary Halloween, Sis. ❤

    Oh my, how scary this would be. I bet a lot of people got buried alive like this in the old days. Spooky Etheree Ritu, you did well with this prompt.
