Sue’s #WritePhoto prompt this week.
Let Them Come On A Bear Hunt
They're going on a bear hunt, they think they'll catch a big one
What an amusing idea, this'll be fun
Who's this?
A pack of Japanese tourists with cameras?
We can't mute them, we can't ban them, we'll just have to listen
Clicky click, clicky click, clicky click
They're going on a bear hunt, they think they'll catch a big one
What an amusing idea, this'll be fun
Who's this?
A pack of German tourists with towels?
We can't mute them, we can't ban them, we'll just have to listen
"Bier?" "Nein." Bier?" "Nein." "Bier?" "Nein."
They're going on a bear hunt, they think they'll catch a big one
What an amusing idea, this'll be fun
Who's this?
A pack of Indian tourists with tiffins?
We can't mute them, we can't ban them, we'll just have to listen
Silence. Oh. They're eating.
They're going on a bear hunt, they think they'll catch a big one
What an amusing idea, this'll be fun
Who's this?
A pack of English tourists with sunburn?
We can't mute them, we can't ban them, we'll just have to listen
"Got any aftersun?" "Got any aftersun?" " Got any aftersun?"
They're going on a bear hunt, they think they'll catch a big one
What an amusing idea, this'll be fun
What's this?
A cave. A dark, dingy cave.
What might be within?

I remember the original “Bear Hunt” game we taught the Sunbeams (4-7 years old) during Children’s Church on Sunday mornings. I have recently heard modifications of it when volunteering with pre-Ks this past spring. However, your adaptation of it is the BEST yet! What fun!

Thanks Jennie. Glad you recognised it. I forget that’s lot of readers here aren’t au fait with more modern children books!

This makes me curious what people think of American tourists, not going to lie. Still, excellent and rollicking poem about the power of misconceptions and stereotypes!

I could have gone on and on… Stereotype? Americans are LOUD and think everything is quaint in England 😆

Somehow you hit the nail on the head. German tourists are increasingly asking where the next beer will be available.;-)
Btw. I have created a new term: Rituations, means “Ritu’s teaching adventures”. Starting a new round in September 🙂

Indeed… Such a stereotypical set of descriptions there, but it just flowed. And see… Not all bears are big and scary!!!
