Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 251 – Festive Cheer

“I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.”

Charles Dickens

What a lovely thought, Spidey, that you found there!

Christmas, and all the feelings of ‘peace on earth, and goodwill to all men’, it’s all well and good, but why do we save it for Christmas?

Would this world not be a better place, if we had those feelings in our hearts all year round, as good old Dickens said, above?

Personally, I try to live my life with these thoughts all the time, but I am always amazed at some people I have encountered, who truly Scrooge it up the whole year round, and then flip a switch, and become this all giving, all cheery individual, just around the festive period.

Then come January, yup, you guessed it, Scrooge is back.

Bah Humbug again!

The world truly is a nicer place around this time of year. There are smiles, and so much generosity.

Seriously? Why can’t we share this giving nature around, spread it over the whole year?

So… tell me, are you more of a Scrooge, during the rest of the year, or like Will Ferrel’s Elf?

I try to keep the spirit of Christmas all year round. I can be a bit of an Elf but it embarrasses hubby so I try to tone it down. Have a fabulous Christmas at your house, Ritu!!

I, personally, do not care much at all for Will Ferrel’s character. Just an opinion, so I would say I try to be me and a good me all year long. I am content that I succeed most of the time and think much more of myself than I used to.
Merry Christmas to you and yours and all others out there who read this.

I know he’s a bit… OTT, to say the least, but he definitely has Christmas spirit all year round! Merry Christmas, Scott, to you and yours 🎄💜

I don’t know about Scrooge-y, but I have had a few holiday seasons in which I did not feeeeeeeel the merriment. I’m not a fan of feeling that way, but there it is anyway. Definitely prefer years like this when I feel more generous of spirit. I think sometimes I feel more burden than joy, expectation and even demand from some trumps what I have to give in time, energy, or money.
HOWEVER, throughout the year, I am generally rather merry, no holiday required.
I, too, marvel at people who act as though complaining is a solution, and I get mad when they try to put their gloom on me/others.

I love this Dickens quote. I wish the world was like it is at Christmas everyday, a smile, a word a hug costs nothing. We help neighbours and friends, hubby is always out doing things for people. Happy Christmas again Sis 💜💜💜

Hi Ritu, Such a great thought…Dickens fan here too…You don’t need pots of money to be kind – just phone people you know who are lonely or ill or visit them (we know several). Make someone a cake (one of our good friends made us a fruit-rich Christmas cake), another friend’s knitting needles are never still – she makes warm shawls, gloves and throws for refugees. There are many ways…Have a good Christmas with your lovely family, Ritu and a healthy and fruitful New year. Hugs Joy xx

I’d prefer to be Scrooge all year round, but it’s easier to be kind.
