Chai And A Chat #120 #ChaiAndAChat #CoronaDiaries Week 44

Another week goes by in a blur… and that’s the first month of 2021, GONE!

Anyway, let’s get to it. Where’s your drink?

  • If we were having chai I’d start with a quick school update. So I was on in-school with KW Children duty this week, and the week went pleasantly enough. We were given our LFD test packs this week, so we now have to test twice a week, to locate any possible asymptomatic cases within staff. I did my first one on Saturday. I was so nervous, to be honest. Obviously, I don’t want to be positive. For everyone’s sake, and for more selfish reasons. We had a few things happening this weekend, as well as several appointments over the week which I really can’t afford to miss or reschedule… the pack honestly looks like a pregnancy test, except you don’t pee on a stick, you still do the throat and nose swabs, before putting your sample on the test. It was Negative, thank goodness!
  • If we were having chai I’d tell you that I was very happy to hear that my parents got their first vaccinations on Saturday. One step closer to being able to be together, I guess! And my in-laws got their letter through to book an appointment for theirs, too. Mum in law wanted an asymptomtaic test first though, to ensure they were both fine, so I booked those in for them, and they also came back negative. So at least our parents will be vaccinated with the first shots. Thank goodness.
  • If we were having chai I’d update you on house stuff. So, we decided to get new photos done of the house, by someone more professional than the estate agent who did the original ones. I teel you whata, going professional is tiring! I spent Saturday doing a huge disappearing act, taking clothing off our clothes rails, losing unnecessaray furniture, stripping the kitchen bathroom and living room, buying throws and cushions to look a little more fancy, and dismantling Hubby Dearest’s office on our dining table, so the room could look more like a dining room for the pics. I exhausted myself on Saturday, then before the photographer arrived on, at 11 am, I was shifting furniture, and doing a last minute clean. The photos took 2 hours, with a bout of me running up and down stairs moving things. She was a great photographer, too. Then, when she left, it was mission get back to normality, again. I didn’t even eat, all day, until 5.30pm! And I think my Fitbit told me that before, I sat down, I did 20.5K steps! But, at least the photos are done, and hopefully, they will help get some more viewings in… then we are another step closer to our dream home.
  • If we were having chai I’d tell you that I received my January treat to myself. It’s a Covid mug! Can you read it without singing?
  • If we were having chai I’d finish by telling you that I completed my January journaling challenge! 31 days of prompts, and creativity in my journal. It has made me think about how I can use the skill regularly, now, too!

I can’t believe you teachers are so far down on the list for the vaccine! All my kids’ teachers who wanted it–they are in-school–have gotten the first dose and maybe even the second by now. My dad, who is over 80 has his appt., which is so great, because I haven’t seen him since the summer. I’m am crossing my fingers for all your goings-on–health, of course, school, and the dream house! I’m sure the professional pics will help a lot. It’s amazing what good staging and photographer can do!

You test your teachers twice a week? See, England is far ahead of America when it comes to Covid. I can only imagine what it was like with the photographers at your house. It sounds like it will be worth it all.

The testing has only just started Jennie, but I’m not sure what the effectiveness will be.
The LFD tests are not as accurate as the lab tests, but they will pick up high volumes of the virus in an asymptomatic case. You may still have it, but in a low form (which is still infectious), but that might not be picked up. But, hey, it’s something. There were a lot of gagging School teachers… sticking swabs down their throats! 🤣
I think the photos will look amazing. I hope so, anyway! 🤞🏼
      Thank you, Jennie 🤗

Couldn’t help noticing the vaccination bit! So glad your parents could get it. Are you based in UK? What’s the status for vaccines there for people under 65?

Yes, I am in the UK.
Apparently the government set out a 9 stage plan to vaccinate the most vulnerable, from the elderly to their keywords, and those who have medical needs that label them clinically vulnerable.
I can’t remember the order, but it was over 90s, over 80s over 70s, care home workers, NHS front line staff, Clinically extremely vulnerable, Clinically vulnerable, and over 65s, and another one, I think… they aim to vaccinate by mid Feb, then can roll out to rest of country as necessary, looking at school staff and other key workers.
But this is just the first dose….

In the past i only had heard about Wedding planersare so usual in the UK. Now you are making the newest, as an Vaccination planer. Lol Good work Sis! It seems you in the UK are very soon are vaccinated well, only Germany has to wait on till the end of September. ;-( And your are taking this all with a smile on your faces, the crazy mug is showing. Humor is the only one helping to overcome these days. Thank you for the briefing, Sis! Enjoy your week, and i hope all with the house will go well too. Michael

Having Peet’s French Roast coffee with cream and sweetener with you this morning. My online course is doing well; I’m keeping up with grading, and I’m experiencing a welcome slowdown after the first frantic two weeks.
Can’t get the vaccine anywhere; everyone is “out,” and we’re both over 65 with health issues. My patience is wearing thin.
Hope you get some nibbles on your house soon–no, more than nibbles, an offer!
I love your mug. Most of the mug-treats I buy myself are from Goodwill. LOL I refuse to pay for than $2 for a coffee mug. LOL Cheapskate, I know.
Have a wonderful week ahead. I plan to take a BD gift to a girlfriend this afternoon, homemade potpourri, beautifully colored and a bottle of essential oil to re-sent it with if it wears thin. Picked up most of the “pieces” from the yard over the period of a year–definitely a labor of love.

Oh, Rae, how frustrating that you can’t find a vaccine!
I truly hope things materialise for you soon.
I believe the property will go on market again, soon. Pics are all done.
And he’s confident that there will be bites, sooner rather than later! 🤞🏼
      I’m a definite mug lover!
