Taking a Shower – Kids Logic Part 14

I have been a mollycoddling mum, and, I guess due to convenience etc., I shower Lil Princess, who has just turned 7, and Lil Man who is 9…

I know we need to foster independence, so this had been a task the last couple of weeks, giving their flannels, and towels, setting the water temp, and letting them go for it.  It’s been a wet experience, wet floor, wet carpets, wet towels, wet everything, but at least they are doing it!  I usually use our upstairs bathroom, and the kids are showered there.  The downstairs shower room is Hubby Dearest’s territory.

As a little perk, he told Lil Man that come the weekend, he could start using the ‘boys’ shower.  He just needs a little training on how to operate it… No problem… I’ll leave that mess for Hubby Dearest to clear up!

So today, the two munchkins were discussing the shower.

LM: I’m using the big shower at the weekend.

LP: No you’re not!

LM: Yes I am, Daddy said so!

LP: You don’t even know how to use it!!!

LM: Yes I do… first you turn the Bhangra on…

…a key part to having a shower obviously!

Hee hee! That is the thing with Hubby Dearest, he needs music everywhere, and has the Bhangra tunes on at full blast when he goes into the shower! So Lil Man sees this as an essential requirement for the downstairs shower!!!!

But LP is not finished…

LP: No, you need to put ‘Call Me Maybe’ on, then ‘I’m a Barbie Girl’ when changing!

Hmmm… I don’t think I’ve heard those particular songs coming from the bathroom when Hubby Dearest is in there… Me thinks she has her own ideas!!!!

Little lost ball…

At the prom again today.
Lil Man and Hubby Dearest were playing football a tad close to the riverside…

Oops!

Can you see it? Let me enlarge it for you…

There! That orange blob!

His favorite ball… Off to discover lands anew!

Can you find it now? It's there somewhere!!!

But I Smile Anyway...

Farting! – Kids Logic Part 13

Lil Princess sat on the radiator with an inane grin across her face.

Me: What’s so funny?

No Reply

Me: Seriously, what’s funny?

Nothing

Me: Why are you sat there smiling?

LP: I just farted, on the radiator!!

[Cue giggles]

LM: When someone poots, someone smiles….!

Wise words from the not so wise Lil Man!

Oh, You Cannae Shove your Granny off a Bus!

My Son, when he was 6-7, and now my daughter, at the same age, study the Katie Morag stories by Mairi Hedderwick.

They are sweet tales about a little girl who lives on the fictitious Isle of Struay, off the coast of Scotland.  Beautiul  illustrations and stories.  Lil Man loved them when he first started studying them, so I bought a small box set of the books.

One of the stories was …

Katie Morag and the Grand Concert

Katie Morag and the Grand Concert

A cute story about Katie getting to sing in a local concert.

She starts of singing an old traditional Scottish childrens song.

The Song of Two Grandmothers.

The Song of Two Grandmothers.

Oh you cannae shove your granny of a bus!

No you cannae shove your granny off a bus!

Oh you cannae shove your granny,

Cos she’s your mammy’s mammy,

No you cannae shove your granny off a bus!

(Sung to the tune of “She’ll Be Coming Round The Mountain”)

The kids had a giggle, they loved the song, then came the second verse

You can shove your other granny of a bus,

Yes, you can shove your other granny off a bus!

You can shove your other granny

Cos she’s your daddy’s Mammy,

You can shove your other granny off a bus!

Oops!  I had to stop them singing that!  (But I couldn’t!)

My mother found it hilarious, but then she finds anything the kids do funny, but my mother in law might have been a tad offended at that one.  She possibly wouldn’t have understood that it was only a song… and would have thought that I was teaching them to ‘push her off a bus’!!

And Lil Princess would have been around 4, so trying to stop a 4 year old from singing things…IMPOSSIBLE!!!

Then Hubby Dearest was slightly concerned… “What kind of songs are you teaching the kids??!”

But its just a traditional rhyme, a little light hearted jest!

And once I read the story, it stays in my head for days!

As Lil Princess pulled the story out yesterday, I just had to share it with you today!

An afternoon out with the family…

We had a lovely time, the other day, on the prom, in the sun, while the bitterly cold winds blew!

Big Him, Lil Him, and Her!

Football out, scooter at the ready! And me with my kindle!

image

Beautiful day!

Even though it was cold… Ice cream had to be done! We’re at the prom, after all!

image

You know you've enjoyed it when there's more ice cream around your mouth, than in your belly!

And some lovely scenes around the riverside…

image

Boats!

Blue skies!

image

The big beyond!

The temple in the background…

image

A truly lovely day!

And an interesting looking stump… Just because!

Stumpy!

So all in all, a lovely day!!
Any day with my family, (and ice cream), is good!

But I Smile Anyway...
