Colleen has added a new twist to her poetry challenge as it has entered its second year!

No longer just a Haiku, Tanka or Haibun, but she has added Senryu and Cinquain to the list too!

I have never written them before so I thought I’d have a go!

Hope I make sense!

The prompt words are:

Mist & Shape

Cinquain

Morning
Misty figures
Shaping, forming, floating
Chilly weather sparking winter
Dawning

Flash Fiction for Hurricane Relief #Flash4Storms #LemonSharkCharity

It’s not a chore, you know, when you are asked to write prose for charity.

Well, Sarah Brentyn of Lemon Shark has set up a wonderful challenge with a promise to donate money to a very worthy cause… let me hand over to her…

Harvey, Irma, Maria… These hurricanes have hit hard, leaving massive damage in their wakes. Here’s how you can help:

1. Write a piece of flash fiction in 50 words or less with the theme: Help

(This can be any sort of assistance, support, encouragement, or a story of someone or something that needs help. You do not need to use the prompt word. Be creative! It can be 50 words, 15 words…even a six-word story. Anything goes provided it is prose up to 50 words. It doesn’t have to be sunshine and rainbows but keep it PG and friendly.)

2. Add a new post on your blog with your flash fiction and the hashtag #Flash4Storms in the title

3. Link to this post

4. Leave a comment here with a link to your post so I know you’ve participated

5. Help spread the word on social media with the hashtags:

I will donate $1 to hurricane relief for every flash that is posted (up to $50).

And to top it all, Diana WP of Myths Of The Mirror has decided to match the donation!

So, here goes! 50 words filled with hope!

After six days of relentless searching, they had all but given up hope.

All that was left of the school was a pile of rubble.

Irma had done her job good and proper.

The rescue team were ready to and admit defeat, when that feint cry was heard… “Help!”

As Autumn bows her weary head
Over her shoulder does Winter peek
Dark mornings call for you to lay in bed
The day outside looks bleak

The children fight to open their eyes
Surely it’s the middle of the night?
Households filled with cries and whys
Sleep won’t give up the fight

But don’t fret, it wont be long
Until our clocks fall back
And your alarm won’t feel like a gong
Bodies won’t be out of whack

Written for all those currently struggling to rouse their kids as the dark mornings are so deceptive… and they cause chaos with morning routines!!!

Clockwork Clouds

As I hijacked last Mondays post to celebrate that Kirsty and I got engaged! So, I thought I’d hijack this Monday Blog to celebrate something equally as important: Me!

Well, not quite as important… in fact, not even remotely as important. However, what was really ‘lovely’ is receiving this nomination from Gary. I don’t normally do these, I still have a nomination from Wendy to tackle, but I was feeling inspired to share this blog about love since I’m currently on (Clockwork) Cloud Nine.
