A nonet inspired by the awful happenings of last night…

When will all this fear and hatred end?
Lives taken for no true reason?
Evil, you will not break us
We are tougher than that
We will not run scared
We stand as one
Together
London
Strong
Ritu 2017

Last night I went out for the first time in a long time. And the end of my evening I was made aware of these happenings at London Bridge and then Borough Market.

It saddens, and sickens me, and pretty much all of those around me too. My kids question why?

Lil Man, this morning, said, “When I grow up, I’m going to put posters up everywhere saying ‘Where is the love?’ That’ll help.”

If only it were that simple.

It’s the repercussions that worry me.

Take today. There is a BIG cricket match. India Vs Pakistan.

For those with not much sense, what a great target for a revenge attack!

Pakistan – Muslims!

India – Brown faces!

But most of these terrorists haven’t been of Pakistani descent, and aren’t from India either.

Yet that is not the point either.

I am already having flutterings of panic about going to London next week for the ABBA’s. Still, I won’t let it beat me, and we can’t let these idiots ruin life for us. As long as we, the majority, stand together, wherever we are, humanity will win.

“An eye for an eye will only make the world blind.” Mahatma Gandhi

Peace out there Peeps, to you all.

Stay Safe London, and everywhere.

Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 120

img_00411

“Bloom where you are planted.” –  Possibly from the Scriptures, but not these exact words!

When Spidey gave me this quote to work with today, I had a think, and it really ‘grew’ (sorry!) on me,

We are not always able to choose where we live, or what situation we find ourselves in. But the point is that if you can accept where you are in life, you can make the best of whatever life has given you, and blossom.

Sometimes it’s best to be king or queen of your own little pond, rather than dreaming of taking over an ocean. If that ocean is in your fate, it will happen.

Don’t dream so big, that you forget to wake up and live your actual life!

Having said that, it is not bad to dream… To aspire to become someone or something is never a bad thing!

Have a wonderful Sunday Peeps!

#SoCS June 3/17 – Whether/Weather

Linda’s #SoCS prompt for this week…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “whether/weather.” Use one, use both, use them any way you’d like. Bonus points if you start and end your post with one (or each) of them. Enjoy!

Whether it’s spring or summer,
Winter or fall
You know one thing that’s common
In all
You’ll get wind, sun, and rain
Together
Because that’s just typical
British weather!

Book Review: How To Craft Superbad Villains – 13 Steps to Evil by Sacha Black

After all the hype, and the moans and groans from Sacha about this book as it started as a tiny zygote (idea) and became an embryo (opinion polls etc.), then a foetus (first draft), through to the time of painful contractions (editing) and labour (publishing), I had to get my hands on a copy! (Actually I got two… Kindle and then the Paperback!)

20170601_121810

And I really wasn’t disappointed! Here reads my review, on Amazon and Goodreads.

Star Rating: ★★★★★

Never, as a fledgeling writer, did I think I would ever want/need to read ‘how to’ books regarding writing, much less a book about crafting Villains!
To be honest, in my writing, I have never really thought about the need for a villain, though after reading this book, I realise that they are EVERYWHERE!
Whether in a children’s book, or Science fiction, in Chick Lit or Fantasy, there will be a villain lurking, and now I know how to
a) spot one, and
b) create one!
Sacha Black has, in a mere 13 steps, shown us would-be (and experienced!) writers exactly what our thought process should be regarding those negative characters that are omnipresent in Literature.
Using her immense knowledge of popular characters form both Fiction, TV and Film, she has created a guide that gives you many ‘A-ha!’, ‘Of course!’ and ‘Why didn’t I think of that?’ moments!
A great and simple book to read with so much information, presented in a humorous way.
Definitely one to recommend to all those writers out there!

I didn’t mention them in my review, but the Appendices were fantastic too, I think they are something I will be referring to a lot!

13 Steps To Evil is now on sale and for one week only, you can get it at the bargain price of £1.99. After the 7th June, it will go up to its normal price of £2.99. So make sure you download it ASAP to avoid missing out on the launch promotion.
