It was taking ages, her hands were tired, but oh it was looking beautiful.

She watched as the girl created more and more intricate patterns on her hands and feet.

She had always loved henna, but this was a different thing altogether.  After all, this was the big one, the wedding henna. This was the one that, according to tradition, would predict what her mother in law would think of her… and how deep her husband-to-be’s love for her would be.

In a few hours all would become clear.

As the dried henna flaked off, she could see the bright orange colours revealing themselves. A deep, rich burnt sienna tone… and it was getting darker still…

Thank God!

At least she wasn’t going to have to bat silly comments from the old biddies in the family, who were eager to see what the outcome of the henna test was. Yes, apparently she would be loved by her Mother-in-Law, and her husband would be head over heels in love with her…

And anyway, 2 nights before the wedding, it was a little too late to be worrying about these things, wasn’t it? It’s not like she would have been able to call off the wedding!

Thank you  for reading!

And as always, please, take part in the challenge to all of you!
