#SoCS June 6/2020 – Fan

Linda’s #SoCS prompt this week:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “fan.” Use it by itself or find a word that starts or ends with it. Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

Fantastic prompt word form our Linda, don’t you think?

Hmmm, gotta say, I love a fan. You know the folding ones that you can spread out and use in the heat. Because, God knows, I am not great with heat. Yup, this is the girl who slowly melts as the temperatures go up.

Make up and I are not fans of each other in the heat. either. I always remember the makeup artist on my wedding day. She tried her hardest to convince me that I needed A-grade cement filler style foundation, because of all the lights and cameras that would be on me.

(She’s not wrong. An Indian wedding is nothing short of a Bollywood film in the making, when it comes to the filming, and the guests like the couple’s fans. Equipment may be smaller and more advanced now, but then, nearly twenty years ago, there were cameera men with huge cameras hoisted upon shoulders, or on tripods, big lights set up, and photographers too. The amount of times people would get angry as the film-maker was more intent on getting the ‘take’ right, rather than actuall allowing a wedding to take place smoothly! Thank goodness there is more discretion, nowadays!)

Anyway, back to my story. I knew that, despite the wedding being in November, the heat of the lamps, and all those guests in one place, would result in whatever face I had painted on, sliding down my own face, and coming to rest somewhere around my neck. So I refused, buying my own lightweight base, thank you very much!

All’s well that ends well. The makeup stayed on pretty solidly, my skin could still breathe and I only lost one of my false eyelashes, at 9pm that night, after crying so much at the departing scene of the movie wedding.

#SoCS May 30/2020 – Spay Splay Spray

Linda’s #SoCS prompt, this week:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “spay/splay/spray.” Use one, use two, use ’em all, it’s up to you. Have fun!

Yout hips move with a sway
Blonde hair hardened with spray
Red lips pout in that way
You beckon to me, legs a-splay
'You fancy a roll in the hay?
I've a partner, thank you, no way!
Their instructions I have to obey
Off on my errands,' I say
'A kitten, that we need to spay
The vet's waiting for me to pay'
I doff my hat, 'good day!"
Poor thing, she wouln't know I was gay

Ritu 2020

Dear God, Linda, where do you make my brain go!?!

#SoCS May 23/2020 – Cheyynah

Linda’s #SoCS prompt this week:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “ch.” Find a word that starts with “ch” and use it as your prompt word. Bonus points if you start your post with that word. Enjoy!

Go on, say it.

Can you actually say it without morphing into a grotesque version of Donald Trump – ‘Cheyynah’?

I know I can’t.

Chinese food.

I miss a good old Chinese takeaway, but since this virus spread, here in this area, we have no places open, even for delivery, because the owners were subjected to such abuse. And one had even put a note up to say that she was born and bred here in the UK, had never been to China, and bought all her ingredients at local wholesalers, but still, her business got grief.

That really makes me sad. Some people are childish.

#SoCS May 16/2020 – Want

Linds’s #SoCS prompt today:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “want.” Make the word “want” the first, second, or third word of your post. Have fun!

What I want (there you go, third word!) is to know what is going on.

Actually, it is probably what everyone wants to know.

Into week eight of Lockdown, and though the government are trying to show that the end may be in sight, we, as a people, are left with a huge dose of doubt.

I’m sitting here, not really knowing what is going to happen, come this magic date of June 1st, when apparently the government thinks it will be safe to bring children back to certain classes in school.

So safe that we have to split the class.

Possibly split it again.

And not talk to the majority of my own babies who will be trying to come in.

No hugs.

No consolation hugs for the little 4 and 5 year olds who will probably be quite distressed to come back in to aa very different school scenario.

And quite possibly, not even with the teacher they are used to having.

Hell, yeah, I want to know what is going on.

Okay, enough of that virus talk, something else I want, is for my creativity to come back, properly, and my energy, and I want the phantom pains to disappear too!

Not asking for too much, am I?

One Liner Wednesday #1LinerWeds – From The Mouths of Babes

I know that flag, it’s the MacDonald Trump flag!

Student, aged 6

We were learning about VE Day in school with the keyworker children, and as we looked at information, flags showing countries who were involved came up on the screen.

Guess which country’s flag was being described above?
