#SoCS – Feb. 26 2022 – Rest

Linda’s SoCS prompt:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “rest.” Use it any way you like. Enjoy!

An apt word for the week, Linda, I’ll have you know.

If you saw my 1LinerWeds post, you’d know that it has felt like the week did not want to end, for me.

Well, I guess things always happen for a reason, and I got to Frida, and my body told me that REST was what I needed.

After a week that had felt like it was approximately 145 days long, at the end of Thursday, I succumbed to a bad tummy bug, kindly gifted to me by my daughter who has been suffering since Wednesday.

I arrived at school, thinking I felt a little dodgy, but that I could soldier on.

That wasn’t the best plan. Lil Princess was home for day three of her confinement. Lil Man and I headed off, and I dropped him at his grandparents, and made my way to school, just arriving in time to rush to the ladies… (Sorry!)

After a short while there, my colleague arrived, and she could see from my pale face that I wasn’t right. But, ever the teacher, I couldn’t abandon my class or team, could I?

I’ve come to realise that a broken me, carrying on is actually worse than a me who has to catch up on a few things when she’s better. Plus, I don’t want to be the someone passing bugs on to anyone else.

So, I spoke to my head, organised the classroom, texted my team with the updates, and amended plans for the day, and headed home for a rest.

Still not right, but I definitely needed that time away from the class!

#SoCS – Feb. 19 2022 – Whatever

Linda’s SoCS prompt:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “whatever.” Use the word “whatever” any way you’d like. Bonus points if you start your post with it. Have fun!

Whatever the weather, come rain or shine, I’ll be here, on my blog, for you, at SoCS time!

You guys know that, don’t you?

Talking of the weather, have you been experiencing Storm Eunice, if you are UK residents? Whatever is that all about?

We were told, on Thursday evening that our area was on amber alert. Just to be safe, Hubby Dearest cancelled a planned 2-hour drive with his dad to pick up a new car, as a present for Dad’s 70th coming on Sunday.I had to cancel a trip out with Lil Princess, too, as I was worried about the risk of trees falling on the country roads we have to navigate.

We woke up on Friday and my phone pinged with the raised alert of RED! That is the danger of death level!

A storm two days before had people posting footage of flying wheelie bins and trampolines, like the big ones! Seeing as we are in the country with a large expanse of land around us, it only seemed wise to get out in the garden before the winds hit, to make sure anything loose was put away, and to batten down the hatches so to speak.

Lil Man’s cricket equipment was dismantled and the summer house was packed with outdoor chairs etc.

As I write this, it is actually Friday afternoon, and I’m sitting in my writing room under the eaves of our home. Stong gusts of wind are making the doors to the little cupboards here, creak. Leaves are flying around all over the show.

I’ve seen videos of the O2 roof being shredded in London, not 15 miles from where we are! I’ve seen the wind fell trees in places, and even fell people, rolling them along the road with the strength of the gusts.

Yup, definitely glad I stayed in.

I’ve got new words down, and now I am off to read a good book!

Whatever!

#SoCS – Feb. 12 2022 – Fortune

Linda’s SoCS prompt:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “fortune.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

I’m a little late with my SoCS post this week, because I have just finished what feels like the longest term in history!

And now I am fortunate enough to have a week’s break, thank goodness!

Anyway onto the main prompt.

We are ordering Chinese. Well, actually, we have already ordered, and unless I’m lucky, the doorbell will end up interrupting my post writing!

It isn’t here, yet, but one thing I lament is that here, in the UK, you seem to rarely get fortune cookies with your meals.

I do love a good fortune cookie, don’t you?

#SoCS & #JusJoJan – Feb. 05 2022 – Page

Linda’s SoCS prompt:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “page.” Use it as a noun or a verb. Have fun!

Page is always appropriate with an avid reader and writer, however, the first thing that came to my mind was my first ever haircut!

As a young British Indian child, I was there with my long, long hair in a plait at school, and all my friends had these cool (to me) haircuts and well, I wanted one, too.

It took a lot of convincing because cutting our hair is not really embracing the Sikh way, however, after a lot of pleading to my Pops, my mum took me to a little salon.

And I ended up with what was called a pageboy cut. Okay, so it looked more bowl-like, but this hairstyle virgin was more than happy!

I still cringe at the photos…

#SoCS & #JusJoJan – Jan. 29 2022 – Let Go

Linda’s SoCS prompt:

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “let go.” Write about the first thing that comes to mind when you think “let go.” Enjoy!

Let go – The first thing that came to mind was the million things that I end up worrying about, that I know, deep down I cannot do anything about.

And that, deep down, I know that I should just let them go.

But I can’t.

You know, it’s the kinda person I am. Unable to forget things.

I do try, though…
