Day nine of #JusJoJan!
I’m going to try to write on each of the prompts!
Today the prompt is:
Your prompt for January 9th, 2018, brought to you by the lovely Barbara, is “Coffee.” Use it any way you’d like in your post. And make sure you visit Barbara at her blog, “TeleportingWeena link: https://teleportingweena.wordpress.com/

Coffee
I can’t stand coffee!
It just doesn’t taste good to me.
I am firmly a tea drinker.
Being as I am an Indian, born in England to Kenyan-born Indian parents, I think there is a heck of a lot of tea culture flowing in my veins! After all, tea is the drink of the British and the Indians, and tea grows in India, and Kenya… (Though Kenya is a coffee-growing nation too!)
But then when I see people drinking coffee, they appear much more grown up. Does that make sense to you?
It’s as if my naturally sweet palate can’t take the bitterness of the coffee beans.
I have tried it, sipped tiny sips, attempted coffee cake, and even sweets, but no!
And if I was to find that random coffee sweet in a Marvels packet – I want to be sick!
One of the hardest experiences in my life?
I worked for a call centre for Nestle, and we dealt with the catering side of the business, and in order to be able to discuss the various coffees Nescafe have to offer, we were invited to head office to have a coffee tasting session!
The rest of the team knew I hated the stuff and they watched me throughout the morning, as I was subjected to what felt like hundreds of tiny cups of various coffees. And the worst thing? I couldn’t just quickly swallow it either! There was a need to swill it around the mouth, kind of like wine-tasting, the writing down how it tasted on all parts of the tongue! Ewww!
Having said that I can’t stand the stuff, I am pretty okay at making a decent cup, apparently!
I make Hubby Dearest a daily cup in his travel mug to take to work, and I can make a frothy coffee by hand, after being taught by an employer from a long time ago, who liked her coffee sweet and milky. I used to add the coffee and sugar, a drop pr two of milk and then whip it up a frenzy, until it was a creamy foam at the bottom of the cup. When the water was added, and the extra milk, it was almost cappuccino-like!
But no, I definitely don’t want to drink the stuff myself.
Then you get my 12-year-old son who loves the taste of coffee sweets, and I won’t allow him to drink coffee regularly, as I think he is too young for caffeine (no, my kids don’t drink soft drinks either, unless its a very special occasion!) but when he gets a chance, a Latte from Costa is his thing!
Is he more grown up than me? Oo-er!
But no thank you – I’ll stick to my cup of Chai!
See you tomorrow! Oh, and yesterday at school was a manic day, as I thought it would be, but I’m still here, as I always am, and am counting the days to the weekend lol!

I order coffee out as I find people have less chance of ruining a cup of coffee than a cup of tea. Plus it is usually my vehicle for blend and sugar!

I am grown up at work but not so much at home, although I find I am drinking more coffee on my days off! That coffee tasting morning must have been horrendous for you Sis although I would have loved it! 🙂

If drinking coffee makes you more grown up, I may well be the most adult man on the planet. I drink so much of the stuff… haha… But my favorite beverage of all is mixing tea and coffee together. Not just any tea, though. Chai. Chai + coffee + milk = heaven in a cup. Anyway, interesting to get the perspective of one who cannot even bring herself to swallow the stuff. I had never heard of a coffee-tasting before!

I love both coffee and tea. Mango tea is probably my favorite. Coffee was an acquired taste that has become a daily habit.

When I was younger I wanted to drink herbal tea.. I tried several times at different ages and never got the taste, until about 5 years ago. Coffee, it appears, is something I will never like!

Thanks for writing to the prompt word, ‘coffee’! I liked hearing your thoughts about not liking it. I don’t know how you ever got through that tasting test, though. I like hot tea once in awhile, and chai is very good, but hot coffee is a few times a day, and iced tea is all day long here. 🙂

You have definitely the tea-genes, sis… lol! I love coffee but tea either! during the day I drink coffee, in the morning and in the evening I drink tea. My middle child loves coffee too but he wasn’t allowed to drink it regularly either until he reached a certain age.

I’m the exact opposite: I can’t stand tea, but I love coffee. When I’m out, I drink Cafe Americano, four shots of espresso (decaf in my case) and hot water.I find it’s a little more mellow than brewed coffee. In any case, I don’t add cream or sugar or anything to it. Tea, I just don’t like it.

I have at least 3 large cups of coffee every morning, low fat or non-fat milk, no sugar. My daughter works at Starbucks now so we are lucky enough to get a discount on that brand occasionally. That being said, within the past couple of years I have begun drinking lots of tea at night, partially to help with weight loss but also because I love a good lemon zinger. I drink it all plain, no sugar or honey. I can just see you trying to do the taste tests. LOL

I didn’t even know coffee existed till I was late into my teens. My parents stuck to tea and cocoa.I probably would have craved it if I had known of it sooner. I love me some coffee now, though don’t drink it very often.
Ps:-You have the title as yesterday’s prompt. Not sure if it was intentional or not. Just thought I should point it out. Hugs

Many years ago a work colleague made me a cup of coffee instead of tea by accident. I didn’t want to look ungrateful so I drank it – been hooked ever since haha. I only ever drink tea at home (Yorkshire lass here!) but I’ll have coffee when I’m out – yep, I’m weird like that 😉 x
