“A wise man never knows all. A fool knows everything.”
African Proverb
I do love ths proverb that Spidey, dear Spidey, managed to fish out of his collection this week.
It’s another take on last week’s entry, about never being too old to learn new things, really.
We are never at an age where we know it all, though I am sure we all know a Mr or Mrs Know-It-All!
And you are guaranteed to think that person a bit of a fool. I bet when that person starts spouting off about all they know, there is eye rolling going on around them too.
It is so important to realise that one individual really can’t know EVERYTHING.
Sure, age brings with it experience, and the wisdom to guide others through certain situations. But even as adults, we are still learning, or should be willing to admit that there will always be plenty that we don’t know how to navigate.
And with that realisation, should come that knowledge that it isn’t weakness to ask for assistance. In fact it is the wise man who will ask for help, not the fool, because, of course, the fool knows it all!
So… tell me, do you know any fools?

I knew a wise colleague who used to say ‘the worst fool is the one who doesn’t know he’s a fool’, unfortunately, that happens to most fools🤔they think they’re so clever😬

Having been a teacher of teens for several years, I did, indeed, meet fools. Sometimes, it was the students, but, at times, it was the other teacher, the older friend, or even the parent (grand parent) who held that title and made things difficult.

Great topic, Ritu 😀
I have thought, at least since I was educated as a teacher, that there are always possibility to learn something new every day, if we are open for it.
Now I’m thinking, that there are so much, that I don’t know and that makes me happy, because I will never run out of possibilities to learn new.
Wish you a relaxed evening.

It never hurts to ask for assistance/help. If we knew it all there would be nothing left to learn and that would be rather boring. Happy Sunday Sister 💜

I’m a recovering know it all because I once thought I had all the answers, or at least could get them quickly. I realized, as you say, no one knows or possible can know all things. We’re just not put together that way. We must be humble and honest enough to be able to say “I don’t know” perhaps more than than we claim to know.
I once was a know it all… now I’m in recovery. 🙂

Sadly, there are too many fools on the road…As an observant passenger, I am amazed how many drivers don’t indicate whether they are turning left or right. In other respects, although I am an octogenarian…and occasionally forget place names etc., it’s incredible what I am still able to learn. And let’s face it, the more you know, the more you realise you don’t know! It’s a life-time’s quest…Bring it on!. Hugs x

It gives so much room not to think I know everything because otherwise, I am limited to what I already know. Life is so much more exciting being open to all the new things we can discover. But still, I think we all carry both sides inside. That’s why we are often running towards one direction believing it is the only one until we stop (or are stopped) and look around. Good thought to ponder about, sis!

We can be an expert at some things, but definitely need to remember we have areas we have no clue about. An opinion, maybe, but not necessarily knowledge!

We can never be sure to know it all. Life is developing, science is progressing. Even experts are never done with gaining knowledge. But having the wish to know more is a life-long hunger … for those who are open to it. As Einstein said: “The more I know, the more I know I don’t know.”
