Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 313 – After The Storm

Gee, thanks, Spidey, for reminding us of this particular storm we are weathering!

But, still, the quote is right in that we hvae had to weather quite aa storm, and the sun does indeed appear to be breaking through the clouds.

Tomorrow, here in England, the first doors are opening, after this third lockdown.

And to be honest this one has been the toughest. The first time, no one had ever experienced anything like these restrictions before, here. The weather was beautiful, so even though we couldn’t live life as we knew it, we were able to still enjoy the great outdoors. The second one was more of a half hearted one.

But this one?

The starkness of winter, knowing we had missed Christmas and the promised family time, the dark mornings and early evenings, the cold. It was awful. On top of working from home, or being furloughed, trying to help children with their home learning, as a parent, and for us teachers, becoming more proficient in teaching our classes in a way we were never trained to do.

So, yes, I am hoping that tomorrow’s break in the clouds is the beginning of the storm coming to an end…

Fingers crossed!

    I hope you have a fantastic time with actual classes starting up again in the UK. Unfortunately I believe “Normal” as we knew it pre 2020 is long gone. Freedoms have been lost that we probably will never see again because of a situation no one had a plan for. All we can do is move forward and figure it out as we go.

    Thank you for this very motivating quote, Sis! Yes, and hopefully we will have the storm behind, very soon. I hope you had a sunny weekend, and all things are going well. Honestly, i want to get back “old normality”, not a self testing on a daily basis for the next years. 😉 Michael

    Here in California, we are sloooooowly easing restrictions and “putting needles in arms” as they say. We finally have a President who cares about solving this – instead of allowing a shockingly high death rate – too late for the 530,000+ who needlessly lost their lives here. Our “new normal” will involve social distancing, masks in most public places, and hopefully continued respect again for the science that is solving this crisis…

    I think we should probably expect that the new normal won’t be the same as the old one, which should be good in many ways.

    No storm can last forever but some can be really long. However, we have the chance to sit and feel sorry for what we cannot change or we keep dancing through it.

    It is a scary but hopeful new future we are looking at Ritu. The children have struggled being away from their friends and look forward to going back but I’m a bit hesitant as I know how quickly things can change. But, hope is definitely on the horizon.

      Aw thank you, Steve!
      I think, generally, there are a lot of parents out there who have an increased respect for what teachers do, after having to deal with teaching themselves, the last few months, and they can’t wait to have the children back in school, in a more traditional learning environment.
      But, there are that handful who couldn’t cope, and they, unfortunately have rather loud voices…
      But, this is our job, you know. We teach because we want to see future generations flourish. Here’s hoping we work out a way of learning that all children can access, and enjoy! x

    The fact that schools are opening fully but there is no plan for safety scares the crud out of me. Happily, I have a nice yard to work in and sunny days abound. The tiny drops of liquid sunshine are a reason to rejoice in our drought ridden land. Stay safe.
