Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 405 – Feelings

img_00411

“Christmas isn’t a season. It’s a feeling.”

Edna Ferber

Sorry I’m late, Spidey, and my Peeps!

I’m still in bed, trying to rest up as best I can… Because we only have a week left of school, and though it’s the last week of term, and filled with festive fun, I am also battling a horrid cold, and I cannot be off!

I felt much better yesterday evening, and went out with friends for dinner, but woke up with a sore throat still very much there, an achy ear, and a bin full of tissues by my side.

Hubby Dearest is just about recovering from his lurgy.

Lil Princess left one virus behind the other week, but has a cough again now, which sounds like what I’m battling with.

Only Lil Man, and Sonu Singh appear to be healthy…

Yes, the Christmas feeling this year, is definitely ill!

So, tell me, have you kept safe from these horrid bugs that are doing the rounds?

namaste

Wishing you a wonderfully peaceful Sunday, Peeps!

Ritu!! You will find this fascinating. I was sick for five days. I never get sick. Never. I went to the doctor yesterday, and found out I just have a bad cold. What?? How can I be so sick that I was convinced it was the flu or strep? I had already tested negative for Covid. Here is what I learned: The doctor said she has been seeing at least six patients a day just like me. Their (my) symptoms are intense and greatly magnified. “It’s like they’re on steroids. This is something new. We think it’s because people were isolated for so long, and now they’re out and about with a lower immune system.” Interesting. Today I told this story to a parent in my class who is a nurse practitioner. She told me exactly the same thing!! And, she said that wearing masks all the time has lowered people’s immune system. She is not in favor of masks, she feels it’s better to get sick and therefore stronger.

It’s 100% lowered immunity, as well as amplified bugs, Jennie!
It’s been nearly 2 weeks and I still feel awful, but it’s the last day today 💛
As teachers we tend to have such strong immunity, but the pandemic has put paid to that, hasn’t it? 😢

Yes!!! That’s exactly what it is. And we teachers who have strong immune systems are now getting hit-hard! Thank goodness it’s your last day today. 🥰

‘Tis the season for illness. My regular move when I taught was to limp to the finish line and then get sick over the winter break. I hope your last week goes smoothly.

Oh no, Ritu, I’m so sorry you are ill. We have cancelled our trip to the UK due to the bad weather, numerous strikes, increasing illness, and NHS issues. Michael has been so ill for the past three months that I just can’t risk him getting sick and there being no proper medical care. Very disappointing.

    Hi Ritu,
    Poor you!
Take good care. It’s so difficult when working with children. Hot Lemon and Honey, and lots of rest. Hugs xx

I hope that you feel better soon. I don’t usually get colds or the flu; I get weird stuff, like waking up with my eye swollen or once I started feeling bad and a lymph node on one side of my neck was swollen to almost the size of a snack-sized Snickers bar.

It must still be said that, on the other hand, it is hard to be isolated all the time. In a way, it would be nice to be a more carefree person. I just can’t be like that. The same applies to many other things. Fear increases stress, and that’s not a good thing when it’s constant.

Get better soon! So far I’ve been lucky not to get any viruses (the more all kinds of other sadness and stressors & symptoms from it). This is because I have been super careful and avoided all possible contact. In other words, I haven’t really been anywhere, and I always wear strong masks in front of people.
