Colleen’s Weekly #Tanka Challenge #102 – Vigour & Energy #MicroPoetry

Colleen’s tanka challenge, as always includes the premise that only synonyms for the prompt words must be used…

This week, the words were;

Vigour & Energy

Sorry sis, I had to write it the British way, not the over the Atlantic way!

Vigour, not Vigor!

Every heartbeat matches mine
Your touch passion filled
The intensity of your love
Shows a strength no one can beat

Lorna’s Gin-spiring Prompt #3 – How Far Have We Travelled From Home? #Ginspired

The lovely Lorna over at Gin & Lemonade With A Twist Blog has started a new writing prompt.

She hasn’t named her challenge, so I have – Lorna’s Gin-spiring Prompt!

This week, we have the words: How far from home have you travelled?.

Well… I have managed to rack a few countries up under my travelling belt over the years… not as many as some, but a good few!

amCharts

My travel map!

It’s not as accurate in that it covers the whole country whereas I may have only visited a city that is closer to home than the map shows.

But I have visited

  • Kenya many times, due to our familial connection, discussed last week.
  • India a few times
  • USA
  • Canada
  • France
  • Spain
  • Finland
  • Russia
  • Barbados
  • St. Lucia
  • Jamaica

I think that’s it!

And from that list, when I researched the cities I went to, the furthest is Vancouver Island, or Victoria in Canada! (4,717 miles)

Close (by a couple of hundred miles) after is Kenya, Mombasa( 4,496 miles) and India, Mumbai (4,466 miles).

I thought Russia would be the furthest, but we were in Moscow so it was closer than I thought! (1,554 miles).

So, there you have it!

And I do hope to add more countries to that list in the future!

#SoCS September 15/18 – Post

Linda’s prompt for SoCS this week…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “post.” Use it as a word, or find a word that uses it as a prefix. Have fun!

Ah, come on, Linda!

I’m a blogger and writer!

The first thing that comes to mind is a blog post!

And I feel that I should write this post, posthaste, since I have read the prompt!

I believe blogging is an art form in itself, and that every post is special, and should invoke some kind of reaction or emotion within the reader.

Be it a poem, or a story, informative or informal, that post needs to allow readers to engage.

I do hope that when someone reads my blog, they enjoy the ramblings of Ritu’s mind, not think my writing too preposterous, and that maybe posthumously, I’ll still be remembered if someone finds my blog.

And there you have it! A true Stream of Consciousness post!

Catch ya later Peeps! Happy Saturday!

September 13 – Flash Fiction  – Pasta – Preschool Style

Charli’s prompt this week:

September 13, 2018, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write a story that includes pasta. It can be spagetti, macaroni and cheese, or any variety. It can be a meal or a work of art. Go where the prompt leads.

Pasta – Preschool Style
“Okay, today we are making Mother’s Day gifts for your mummies, grandmas, or aunties.
What I want you to do is take the string in one hand, and pick up a piece of pasta.
Remember, the other day, we painted it?
It’s like a tube, and you can thread the string through it, and make a lovely necklace.
No, David, you can’t eat it.
Penny! Stop strangling Julia with the string!
Peter! Don’t tip the tray upside d-…
Don’t worry Mary, we can pick it all up, stop crying, please…”
The life of a pre-school teacher.
