#WritePhoto – Circle

Sue’s #WritePhoto Prompt this week:

Stoned Stones

Rocky leant back and surveyed the motley group of mates surrounding him.
They’d grown up together; him, Chalky, Mossy, Slimy, Grey, and Chunk.
Actually, it had been kinda hard for them grow in any other way, considering they had been placed in this ridiculous circle, wedged into the ground, and the fact that they had no limbs to make changes.
All they could do was sit or lean.
And gather moss.
Sure there had been a bit of weight loss for the most of them, what with all those heavy backsides coming and sitting on them over the years, wearing buttock-shaped grooves into their heads.
Oh, they’d seem some strange stuff over the years, strange pagan rituals, animal sacrifices, chanting… then all went quiet for a while.
Now all they got was the groups of teens who’d discovered them. Evenings spent feeling slightly woozy as they lit objects and polluted the air with strange smelling smoke…
It’s what made him start to lean, the feeling that smoke gave him…

#WritePhoto – Summer

Sue’s #WritePhoto Prompt this week:

I love summer
No really, I do
Even though pollen
Makes me achoo!
The gardens look green
The flowers bloom
It’s time for shorts!
(I need to groom)
The sun coming out
The clear blue skies
As temperatures soar
To unheard of highs!
The sticky discomfort
As humidity settles
Watching sadly
As plants lose their petals
The sun disappears
Who turned out the light?
As rain starts to pour
From morning to night
The moans from us all
That it’s too cold or hot
We’re never just happy
With whatever’s our lot!
We should be used to this,
One form after another
After all this is
The Great British Summer!

August 9– Flash Fiction  – Caught In The Act

Charli’s prompt this week:

August 9, 2018, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write a story that includes  an act of “peering from the woods.” Go where the prompt leads.

I think this warrants a sequel to last week’s yellow tent-ry! Read here for the first part.

Caught In The Act

“Well Annie, that was fun! We should make these meetings of ours interesting more often.”
Petey unzipped the front flap of his yellow tent, allowing for a slice of light to cut through the darkness of the forest.
He stepped out and stretched, post-coitally, opening his eyes to the beauty of nature.
And stopped.
What was that?
Peering from the woods, he swore he saw the face of his wife, Susan, eyes open wide in horror.
A rustling sound followed.
“Come back Petey honey, we’ve still got time.” Annie’s voice brought him back.
Petey feared his time was up.

August 2– Flash Fiction  – Yellow Tent

Charli’s prompt this week:

August 2, 2018, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write a story that includes a yellow tent. Where is it and who does it belong to? Think of how the color adds to the story. Go where the prompt leads.

Yellow Light District

A rustling noise caught my attention.

I trudged through the forest, kicking up the leaves, trying to trace the source of the sound.

A glow emanated from a clearing up ahead.

As I got closer I saw the glow came from the inside of a yellow tent.

It was a hastily erected contraption, and accompanying the rustles were giggles.

The light created shadows.

Two people.

There were definitely two.

The giggles became moans.

The shadows moved slowly, the moans became more intense.

I turned around, embarrassed to be there, until I heard “Oh Petey!”

That was my husband’s name…

#WritePhoto – Track

Sue’s #WritePhoto Prompt this week:

Life has a way of giving us options at every turn. Decisions always have to be made. Sometimes the simplest choice is the hardest to make.

Nature’s track
Intended for you
Follow it

It will be the clearest path, the most obvious, but at times, even the easiest decision is the hardest to make.
