Don’t Let That Look Fool You

Seemed out of place compared to
Her pearlescent skin

TJ’s Household Haiku – Jewel Box

This week TJ has given us Jewel Box as a prompt.

How could I not have a jewellery box, I’M INDIAN!

I have many, actually, filled with beautifully coloured bangles and adornments. Yes, I do have the real deal, but that is kept safely in the bank, as I feel to scared to keep it in my house!

What I keep at home is many, many boxes of different artificial jewellery, and over the years I have accumulated all manner of pieces!

All I know is that when the time comes, I have plenty to hand down to my daughter, and future daughter-in-law!

When I got married, I was given a beautiful set of wooden jewellery boxes from my dear university friends, and my mum bought me lovely metal bangle holders. These are what I have used for the inspiration for this post!

Wooden troves filled with
Glittering treasures and gems
Adornments for me

Row after row of bangles
Waiting for your arms

And as I was trying to be an artistic photographer… I had an assistant! He needs to be featured too!

Cats do love boxes
Seriously, any box
Even shiny ones!

FLASH IN A FLASH – WRITESPIRATION #87

I have been eagerly awaiting Sacha’s next prompt! I enjoy her various twists in her writing games that she challenges us to!

Flash Flash

The challenge?

Get a timer, set it for 120 seconds and when and ONLY when you are ready to do the challenge, scroll to the very end of the post to see the one word prompt. Write hard and fast until your time is up.

Well, I opened the email for the post at work, and had to impatiently wait until now to actually reveal the prompt!

Then I obediently opened a word doc, set my timer and did the big reveal!

I shall give you my entry first, before the prompt word though!

Warpaint
Slowly she applied it, layer after layer.
The concealer and foundation, then the eyes.
Eyebrows painted on.
Cheekbones highlit and honed to perfection, and a pout to match.
Looking in the mirror, she admired her warpaint, an armour of sorts.
Enough to shield her from the battles she used to face, when people stared at her in horror…

The prompt word was

Armour.

And that was in 120 seconds, honest!!!!! (Or maybe 125…!)

Ronovan’s Weekly Haiku Challenge – Take 2! Sun and Moon

Yesterday I was tired, yet managed a haiku for the challenge

Today I was coming home, in the broad daylight and saw the moon out, as you do, in the bright blue sky!

Well, it got my brain ticking, and apologies, the phone photo isn’t clear, but here is a picture and haiku inspired by that sight!

The Moon’s confused mind
Sent him out far too early…
It’s the sun’s time now!

Ritu 2016

Then I felt a Tanka coming on…

Staring at the moon
Wondering where you are now
Do you think of me?
I miss your sunny disposition
Your smiles would brighten my day…
