Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 99

“Be yourself. Everyone else is taken” – Anon

It is so easy, in this day and age, to try and emulate famous names, or strong characters who are around us regularly.

Not just characteristics, and mannerisms, or even clothes and makeup looks. Nowadays having plastic surgery to look like someone is not uncommon.

I’m sure many of us have been to the hairdresser, and requested a haircut like a specific star, like that Jennifer Aniston look of the 90’s!

But think seriously for a second.

Why be like someone else? Be yourself!

It’s not necessary to wear high fashion or certain trainers. you don’t have to control your laughter, just because it’s not ‘cool’ to laugh at certain things.

Do it. As long as you are not hurting anyone else, be true to yourself. If you are true to yourself, your inner beauty will shine through. Genuine people exude a totally different light to those who don’t really have their own personality.

If there is one thing you do today Peeps, it is this. Do something because you want to do it. Wear something because you like it.

Be True To You!

Happy Sunday Peeps!

#JusJoJan Daily Prompt / #SoCS – Jan. 7th/17 – Coat

Day 7 of #JusJoJan by Linda, and it is combined with the Stream of Consciousness Saturday challenge she runs.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday and Just Jot It January is: “coat.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

Coats.

Can be the bane of my life at times!

At home, it is the battle I have with Lil Princess, to actually do hers up in the howling winds, or to actually hang it up on the real hook, and not the invisible one, which lands it on the floor! Sonu Singh doesn’t mind, though, it gives him a cosy bed to lay on!

20161125_172716

And Lil Man, well my coat issue with him is that he is always chewing the top of the zip of whatever coat or top he wears! Oh, it’s such a frustrating habit!

At school, we get children with the same coats, and I cannot understand why parents can’t just write names on them so we can clear any mix-ups up quickly! You tend to get to know the coats of the children after a while, but it is inevitable that there will be that small selection of children who appear to have a different coat every day of the week, in which case anything you had remembered will not help in the slightest!

But I do love a good coat, warm and snuggly, especially in this cold weather! Wrapped up warm with a hat, scarf and gloves too!

Another Week In Nursery!

It’s been a while since I posted about my dear class.

Honestly, they are a wonderful bunch!

Trouble-free? I didn’t say that, but if that were the case, it would be boring!

Take today, for instance. We usually put a little activity out for the kids to ‘fiddle’ with, when they arrive. This morning I had stickle bricks out (remember them?) and when the children have created things, we always ask them to tell us what they made. Usually, they are just towers of blocks, and the child will tell you it’s a car/house/rocket/mummy. But their imagination and creativity is growing, and we are getting recognisable objects… sometimes…

Check out this wonderful piece…

It’s a Dog-Rocket, of course! What did you think it was?

And in other news, we have had a winter fuelled week, making ‘icicles’ and ‘snowmen’, and talking about the weather.

It’s a crying shame that these children are not old enough to have actually seen snow here in the UK, being only 3-4 years old. So I did a bit of research on good old Pinterest, and found out how to make realistic play snow, that was even cold to the touch, and mouldable too!

Bicarb of soda (Baking soda for you Americans!) and white hair conditioner. It worked a treat, but you needed a lot of Bicarb. So I found a second recipe using corn flour and shaving foam too.

The bicarb one really was cold, but there wasn’t a huge amount.

Still, the kids loved it! Though the cleaner probably cursed me, as there was powdery white stuff everywhere!!!!

And this inspired me to create a new display too!

Those are our ‘icicles’ hanging from the top, and I even wrote a poem!

Frost and icicles and snow!
Winter weather’s here you know!

A great big snowman we will build
Until our hands feel cold and chilled

Then we’ll come and warm our hands
We love winter with our friends!

Whether they appreciate it or not, I think it looks pretty! And the children always love to look for photos of themselves!

I was especially impressed with my Olaf! Who doesn’t love him? The best thing was when I originally put Olaf on the wall. There was nothing else to look at, but him. It intrigued the children, who were eager to see what all this was about. But the best scene was when I came inside from the playground to find four little girls like this…

They were ‘watching’Olaf like a film!!!!

Oh to be a child again, eh!

More from Nursery-Land another time!

Ritu’s Healthy Eating – Week 22 – #icandthis

wp-1477781949515.png

Well, firstly from a healthy living perspective, may I just wish you all a healthy, happy new year!!!

Since I last updated you we have entered a new year, 2017! May it be a great one for us all!

So, I have had a varied week, being back at school.

I have had a few days of being REALLY good, some days of being really naughty… how will it pan out?

I even ate a Nandos, and due to visitors coming, I succumbed to a samosa and pakoda!

The rest of the week…

But sadly, I had to say goodbye to my new FitBit also, after getting another allergic reaction to it… BooHoo! I loved that gadget!

20170102_152039

Well, being back at school, in the cold, means a lot of running around. I am avoiding all the excess Christmas chocolates and biscuits that are creeping into the staffroom, donated by all those teachers who were very appreciative of all the chocolate gifts, but couldn’t possibly eat them all! Being in Nursery means I spend very little time there, but on a Tuesday morning, I have planning time, and this week… a packet of biscuits, a multipack of crisps, and Pringles were staring at me… I was really good, and only after sitting near them for 2 hours, did I succumb to one biscuit!20170103_105700

So… how has all this affected my first weigh in of 2017?

Well…

I lost 1lb!

2017-01-06_06-55-07

20.5lb with Slimming World, and since I started, 25.5lb!!! I only need to lose 2.5lb more to hit that goal of mine, losing 2 stone, that I foolishly made at the beginning of August, never thinking it could happen… but it could!

Ooooh!

So, to celebrate, we had a Chinese takeaway, no holds barred, as Hubby Dearest thinks I don’t eat ‘normal’ food anymore lol!

Oh, well, each to their own, eh! At least our household takeaways have really cut down!

Now I am off to worry about the syns I consumed tonight, lol!

Enjoy your week Peeps! Remember, enjoy life, be healthy, be happy!

golden-dawn

And Sacha Black’s #Writespiration prompt.

So without further ado, the first writespiration of 2017, 52 words exactly and you need to include the phrase…

The timer started

So, here goes…!

The timer started.

She looked ahead.

A clear path.

She looked back

No one near.

Then she began.

Ran like lightning.

The goal tangible.

This was it.

Gold was hers.

A car driving past woke her from her daydream.

Looking up, all she saw was the country road stretched out in front…
