Spidey’s Serene Sunday #442 – All Ears

“Talking is so important. But so is listening.”

~Anon~

So true, Spidey.

I love talking. And when I cannot talk, I enjoy typing those thoughts. It is so therapeutic.

But as much as I know it is important to free your mind of certain burdens by talking, it is just as crucial as listening to others.

They have the same need to talk and let go.

And if you want people to listen to you, there comes a time when you need to be prepared to be that sensitive listener, too.

I like to talk, lots, but I like to think I am as good a listener to those who need it, too.

So, Peeps, what do you think? Are you a good listener? 😊

#SoCS August 26th, 2023 -Tune

Linda’s SoCS prompt…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “tune.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

Can you sing?

Are you always in tune?

I like to think I can… but can I, really?

Some of you have heard my dulcet tones in the past, as I warbled along to my rewritten lyrics of We Are Family – instead, We Are Blogily! (I did post it a long time ago. Goodness knows if it is still on here!)

Uh oh… found it!

I’ll let you decide! ( Personally I think I’m a little flat at some points but hey, I had a go!

Chai And A Chat #251 #ChaiAndAChat

Good morning, Peeps! Monday, again!

Still on school break, so that is a plus!

  • If we were having chai, I would tell you that Hubby Dearest had some time off this week, too, so we were all able to chill out together, including a little mini break we had planned.
  • If we were having chai, I would mention that I did my nails at home, thinking that would make me feel like writing a bit more. Unfortunately, it didn’t work, however, they still look lovely!
  • If we were having chai, I would say that we went to London for a few days for our minibreak. We enjoyed dinner out at some lovely restaurants around Canary Wharf and went to Oxford Street, Carnaby Street, Leicester Square, and Covent Gardens to do some sightseeing and shopping. Lil Princess really wanted to go to the London Sealife Centre, so the two of us headed there for the afternoon. Much as I don’t agree with keeping creatures in captivity, the majestic-ness of the sharks and turtles, the rays and the fun. of the penguins was still entrancing. And I love just sitting there watching the fish swim by. The tranquillity we felt was unreal! I took plenty of pictures, too, but haven’t posted them as they are for our memories!
  • If we were having chai, I’d tell you that, if you haven’t read my post from a few days ago, Lil Man also got his A-Level results. He did very well, and we were able to celebrate together while in London. Next stop is not Uni for him, but looking for a higher level apprenticeship in something like sales and marketing. Good luck, my boy! We doped off the week with a cricket match on a glorious Sunday afternoon.
  • If we were having chai, I’d share that I was excited to see the below added to the Straight As a Jalebi listing on Amazin. All reviews are 4+ star! Have you downloaded and read your copy, yet?
  • If we were having chai, I would bring it back to Sonu Singh. I could blame him for my lack of words, but that wouldn’t be fair! And, he suits my chair, don’t you think?

heart mug

I have two weeks left of the break. This week, Hubby Dearest is back at work. I have a couple of appointments to take the kids to, as well as trying to pop into school on at least one day, plus another appointment for the in-laws. I’ll try and find time to write… if my brain lets me, too! But, I am also meeting friends for tea/coffee one day, which I am looking forward to, too!

And while you’re here, did you sign up for my mailing list? I am in the middle of writing an exclusive Chickpea Curry Lit story for my subscribers, and there will be news, tips and even recipes! You know you want to join… go on! Click the pic below to sign up!

Spidey’s Serene Sunday #441 – Let It Go

“The beautiful journey of today can only begin when we learn to let go of yesterday.”

~Steve Maraboli~

Something really meaningful there, Spidey, thank you.

It’s not as easy as it seems to let things go.

We can see people out there holding onto something that is slowly turning their life upside down, and we can advise them to let it go.

Because we know that is usually the best way to carry on with life.

But when that same wisdom is turned onto ourselves, sometimes we forget to take our own advice.

I’m generally pretty good at letting things go, but I am human, too, and sometimes I find that. I am holding onto stuff I cannot change unless others are willing, so that is something I have realised more and more recently.

I have to let it go.

I can deal with it when the time is right, but not worry myself sick over something I cannot alter.

The time will come.

Until then, I can unburden myself.

Get a little respite.

So, Peeps, are you able to let things go? 😊

#SoCS August 19th, 2023 -The First Three Words

Linda’s SoCS prompt…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “the first 3 words of the first full sentence.” Okay, follow me here. This is what I want you to do: 1. Grab the closest book to you when you sit down to write your post. 2. Open it to a random page. 3. Locate the first complete sentence on that page. 4. Use the first three words of that sentence to start your post, then take it from there–write whatever comes to mind. That’s it! Have fun!

He scratches his head self-consciously. It always happens. The moment a child in class is known to have nits or lice, then the urge to itch hits…

He knows it is a peril of the job, but what can he do?

That girl was sitting, scratching like no one’s business, and the moment he got close enough, he could see them swarming around her her scalp.

He’d held himself together, not like the teaching assistant who he’d called over to confirm what he thought. She retched upon seeing the movement on her head.

Right, he thought. Off to phone the parents. And to tell the school office. Another nit letter needs to go out.

The class parents will be thrilled!

A BOTS story...
