Truly Appreciated! #MondayBlogs

Yes!

Finally, the holidays are here!

Admittedly, I will be in school today and for the next two days at least, just getting tidied up, and then prepared for next year, but it will be without the pressure of teaching and assessment! The days we spend in the classrooms like this can be quite restful to be honest!

But I can’t not mention the end of term, and the emotional goodbyes that were seen, with the Year 6 students who were leaving us for the portals of Secondary school, members of staff who are moving on, and of course, bidding farewell to our existing classes.

They may be hard work, you may want to tear your hair out on a regular basis, but you do develop a true emotional bond with the lovelies!

I have to admit to a few tears, especially in the morning when one of my darling boys was going. He won’t be joining us next year as his family have moved, but I had a special place in my heart for him.

As his mum hugged me, and thanked us for the last year, she got teary, and that got me going too! He hugged me close, and tightly, and my heart hurt… honestly!

Fast forward to the end of the day and I had been hugged by a LOT of kids, and mums too, and was the recipient of the obligatory thank you presents too, and what a generous bunch of parents we had too!

I think I may be putting on weight before I lose it again, with all the chocolates!

The handmade notes were gorgeous, the flowers, beautiful, the candles much appreciated and the stationery, well, I always need that!

But the handmade ornament was stunning, the cat mug perfect, and the Prosecco, well, what can I say!

I loved reading the cards, seeing my babies trying to write their own names too!

But we must move on…

I am lucky that I will have some of these children for two days a week next year, as I venture into Reception so to see the progression will be wonderful!

And I shall enjoy my summer recharge those batteries, ready for a busy September!

HAve a great day Peeps!

Ouch!

The first Sunday of my holidays and the tiredness really hit home!

It was a busy Friday, rushing from school to join thousands of cars on the Motorway, to get to Birmingham, but we did it.

A whistle-stop trip to see my parents, staying overnight with them, before the wedding we were to attend.

A day of driving to and from, and sitting, at the wedding. Eating, but no dancing, I was too tired!

Don’t scrub up too bad, eh!

Then back on the motorway to get home!

This morning, I woke up near 9 am. That is unheard of for me to be honest! But I needed the sleep!

Went shopping, the housework can wait, but food couldn’t!

Post-lunch I just crashed out.

Two hours of sleep left me groggy as anything, but I got up, and promptly slipped down the stairs, bumping elbows and my back.

Currently, I am sat here, aching all over, contemplating a hot bath to soothe my clumsy body… Then I need to sleep early!

But thank goodness for the holidays eh!

I am planning on binge watching Goodness Gracious Me! as I finally got the Box set!

Need to educate the kids in a bit more British Asian comedy! They already love Citizen Khan!

Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 127

“Embrace the glorious mess that you are.” – Elizabeth Gilbert

Thanks Spidey, I’ll take that!

I’m too tired to explore the quote more Peeps, but I am definitely embracing my tiredness today!

Have a restful Sunday!

#SoCS July 22/17 – Sealing/Ceiling

Linda’s #SoCS prompt this week…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “sealing/ceiling.” Use one, use both, have fun!

Have you ever decorated before?

I am not one for volunteering for this kind of thing.

Ask me to choose decor and furniture, decide on the palette for a room fine! But painting or wallpapering?

Tedious, messy and smelly!

Still, last year we made the decision to get the kids into their own rooms, and as we were going to be changing things around pretty majorly, decided that the rooms needed a lick of paint.

I was all for calling the decorators in, we know a lovely guy who is a dab hand at getting a quick, neat coat of paint on a wall! But, there were other ideas in place…

Next thing you know, my sister-in-law, who loves decorating, volunteered a few days to get the paint on the walls and ceilings… and before you know it, we, as in my sister-in-law,  Hubby Dearest, and I, were to be officially decorators for the week!

How did that happen?

All I know is that it took us about 4 days of hard graft, aching backs and necks, along with splodges of paint streaking my hair to get things done… painting ceilings are definitely not my forte!

And don’t make me tell you about the skirting board mess ups and door frame palavers! I accidentally shut a door still wet and opened it just in the nick of time, before sealing myself permanently into a paint fume-filled room!

Still, it got done. I can tick that off my list.

I have told Hubby Dearest that next time he has a bright idea to do things home things himself, not to include me unless he has asked! And to be on the safe side… he is to remember, we do have the number for that nice man….
