Empty threats

I have lost count of times I have ‘cancelled’ Friday, aka Lil Princess’s birthday, over the last few days!
If I haven’t cancelled, I’ve threatened to cancel.
Why do I bother?
It happens all the time.
Things go wrong, behaviour hits an all time low, and I resort to these ’empty’ threats. I mean really? Am I that strong that I could cancel a birthday?!
Nope, I really couldn’t. I’m too soft.
I mean, I have the power of the banshee, at times. Even Hubby Dearest gives me a look when they drive me so insane that I can’t stop but shout.
But its all just noise, isn’t it?
Lil Princess, still getting in our bed, every night… No taking things away or canceling of things, or the threat of, has worked.
Lil Man, the same. Silly repetitive behavior, and the thought of no football, or Dhol lessons, might stop things for a short while, but its all back to the same old within days or hours even…

Where am I going wrong? Maybe one day I really do need to ‘cancel’ something…
(I might make something up, and cancel that!)

So we managed to ~~get rid of the kids~~ no sorry, ~~palm them off on the in laws~~ nope that sounds bad! Arranged for the kids to have a sleepover with their grandparents and uncle and aunty in Valentines night.
My Sister in Law (SIL) told me the next day about a conversation she had with Lil Princess (LP)…

LP: Why have they sent us here tonight?
SIL: Because it’s Valentines Day, and they wanted some time together.
LP: I know what they’re going to do… KISS!!
SIL: Erm…
LP: They could have done that when we were there… We would have turned round. It only takes them a couple of minutes!!

(Oh, 😮the innocence of children… From the mouth of babes and all that!)

Day Four of the Holidays!

Yesterday was fairly uneventful, in the grand scheme of things…
I managed to get the Lil Princess’s cake ordered for Friday, make yummy pancakes, but no homework.. The lurgy proved too much for the Lil Princess, who languished in my bed most of the day!

So for today the plans are,
Get off my butt, and stop reading blogs!
Shower and get ready!
Take kids out to the local shopping mall, we are meeting their friends for lunch there, pre birthday treat for the Lil Princess!
Pop in to the In-Laws
Watch the 30th birthday live Eastenders special!!

Man Flu!

I’m waiting… It’s gonna happen… If me n the kids are sniffling, it’ll transfer to the Man of the House soon. Now while I still have to get up, deal with the day to day chores of a mum, including whiney unwell children, when it hits him Oh My God!!! It’ll be awful! The worst cold ever!!!

But I’ll relish in the relative peace of him still being ok yet. Lil Man has not yet reached Man Flu status, and to be honest, he’s not a complainer. He sneezes, he attaches a tissue to his nose and gets on with it.

But no… What was I thinking??! So what if Man Flu hasn’t reached the man yet?? It appears that my daughter has it instead!!

I knew it was coming with her… The whining started a couple of days prior to the sneeze-athon starting. Everything was just tooooooo much for her!! The world, which already apparently revolves around her, wasn’t moving exactly just she how wanted it to… And now it’s hit, the tissue box is never close enough… Sympathy needed 24/7… And strains of “Mummy, I’m not weeeeellllll!” follow me EVERYWHERE!!!

Please, does anyone know? Do they do these for whiney Lil girls??!!

Day three of the Holidays

Well day two had gone, the dentist was erm, ok… My gums need a bit of TLC and God my mouth was sore after the hygienist finished! Kids got the usual, brush better, Lil Princess came out minus her newest wobbly tooth!

On the plus side we finally ordered our new bed!! Yay!!! Still don’t know when delivery will be though… Hopefully within a couple of weeks!! I’m excited! My back is so looking forward to a decent mattress!!

No Karate though… My mouth was too sore, I didn’t have the energy or patience to sit in a room for 2 hours while the kids ‘hai-ya-ed’ around the room!!!

So to today… A nice peaceful day… No major plans except we need to get homework done! And I have a parcel to pick up, and I need to order the cake for Lil Princess and Father in Law for Friday… Oh and be on standby… The In laws fly out on their annual jolly to India for 2 months soon and MIL is packing so any last minute things they need… I’ll get a call…

Sorry, what did I start the last paragraph with? A nice peaceful day!!?? Scrap that!

Never mind, that’s the holidays for you!!

Happy Wednesday, aka Happy Hump Day!!! That middle of the week day that signifies the quick descent o the weekend!!!
