Injury Report #3429 (It’s Been A While!)

You know me Peeps, I am not exactly the most poised of people.

Yes, I did ballet. (And in my ballet recital improvisation in front of the parents, I was… a ‘mad scientist’ apparently! Ask 4 year-old Ritu, I haven’t a clue!)

Yes, I won an award for gymnastics (and tripped up the steps to the stage when I went to receive it!)

But grace somehow eludes me at the best of times.

And common sense too.

You know when you go to do something, and your brain is saying “Not a good idea!”, normal people step back.

Now, when did I EVER profess to be normal? I usually plough ahead, and then something happens.

Like it did the other evening, while I was cooking.

Heating up a Shahi Paneer curry (recipe here, if you’re interested!)for Hubby Dearest, I saw that it needed a stir. Did I reach for the spoon, merely inches away from me?

No! Don’t be silly! Why not pick up the rather hot pan, and swirl it around?

This is why not…

Big splash of boiling curry sauce launched itself at me and my arm.

OUCH!

I have a lovely mild burn on my arm now. It’s sore!

Next time Peeps, Ritu WILL use a spoon!

(And don’t ask about my bruised waist… Oh, ok then! I have started using my weighted hula hoop again, and 3 days of swinging it around has caused bruising up both sides of my waist! Painful!)

Injury report #10456

wpid-20151004_143953-1.jpgIt’s been a while, I haven’t had to report any injuries, thank goodness for ages…

But that’s not to say I have been totally safe…

I am covered in thigh height bruises, and on my arms, through working with delightful munchkins of said height! Not all are inflicted by others, mostly they are from me rescuing children/items from children, and banging into things as I work.. typical Ritu!

No this toe nail injury is something that came to light when I went for my pedicure last week.  A few weeks back, I went to do my grocery shopping at Morrison’s.  I pickled myself up an 8 pack of Rubicon Mango juice drink (oooh I love that stuff!) and put it in the trolley, only to have a second pack fall and bang on my toe.  Note to all, I hadn’t dislodged it, honestly, it fell a good minute after I had taken mine, and on looking the shelf had been stacked appallingly! I hobbled around the rest of the store, completing my weekly shop, and boy was my toe sore, but as I had a Shellac Pedicure, I couldn’t remove the polish to check it out over the few days after.

I had in fact forgotten what had happened until last Sunday when I went for a little well deserved pampering, and said discoloured toe nail was uncovered! I quickly got a picture before it was covered back up with a delightful golden sparkly shimmer!

In other injury reports, I appear to have twisted my knee through rushing around far too much.. old injury, now aggravated again! And my elbow hurts… but that’s probably me walking into a door frame or something!

Oh well, off to rest up now!!!!

Just a funny reminder that I’m still clumsy! (Oh, and a life lesson tagged onto the end!)

And I am so skilled!

wpid-fb_img_1439371958980.jpgConstantly!

At the present I have a cut on my leg, because even though I knew it was there, I scraped against broken glass in a bin liner, that had been wrapped up, mind you, yet I still managed! Don’t worry though, it isn’t too bad!

And a bruise on my hip, as I walked into a door handle whilst back home! Pops was following me, actually telling me to calm down, as the kids were being really brattish, and after controlling myself, I had had a go at them.  He was me holding my hip, and grimacing.  After asking me what was the matter, he said, “were you still angry when that happened?” Yup, I had been extremely frustrated with the sprogs, and was so busy trying to control my temper that I walked into a door! “Well, beta, this is what happens when you don’t count to 10 first.  You must relax your mind, and try not to think angrily first.  I know, I was the same as a youngster, it took me many years to learn this, but you lose so much when you act in anger.  Try and breathe deeply, before reacting to anything.”

And you know, he is right.  And I know this well enough, I am always saying the same to my son who is a peaceful creature, but can flip at the flick of a switch, and his anger can be scary… I say to him

“Think about reaction, before you action.”

He is great at spur of the moment things, which then cause him to get told off, that he knows were the wrong reactions, but, like us all, he realises, in hindsight, that would have been the wrong choice.

I am trying to practice what I preach.  It’s harder as an adult to change your way of thinking, but if I can make him, and Lil Princess, understand these things as children, I hope it will help them in the future.

Doing Damage!

I’ve told you previously about my clumsy nature
Well check out my latest addition to Ritu’s Bruise Brigade!
I managed to walk into a coat hook on the wall at work… They are a damn sight less painful during the school day, with coats on them, but after school, when they are empty metal hooks, this is the result of being clumsy, and not being able to walk around a corner without somehow walking into walls, or hooks for that matter!!!
OUCH!!!!

But I Smile Anyway...

Clumsy Part 2… Ouch!

Following on from my earlier post, here, I must report back that. This chair, yes THIS chair, was the reason behind my latest bruise!!!

The Culprit!

I was, unfortunately, having to take one of our little lovelies down a peg, as he was playing up for the supply teacher we had in, and as I was talking to him, whole class also watching me, I went to sit down, as I was marking, and landed on the top of the back of the chair, instead of the seat…

Now males of the Blogulation, we all know how much it hurts to get hit in the ‘you know wheres’, well. Can I say, as a female, I think I found a woman’s equivalent ‘you know where’!!!!!!

Bruised somewhere I have most definitely never been before, and unless you are a ‘Fifty Shad-er’ or more hardcore, I would not expect to ever BE bruised there!!!

Sitting down is rather painful today….
