Book and a Brew with Ritu – The Car Share by @LucyMitchAuth @BloodHoundBooks #NewRelease #BookReview

One of my oldest blogging friends!

Today, I am thrilled to welcome back my dear friend and romance author, Lucy Mitchell, to my blog for a cuppa and a bit of a chat and update about all things writerly, especially her newest release, The Car Share.

Hello, and welcome back to But I Smile Anyway, Lucy!

Let’s get you set with a drink first. Tea, hot chocolate, or maybe a masala chai? I’m hesitating with the coffee, as I have seen the recent Insta storis with your daughter’s fantastic barista-style art and alas, I cannot offer that, however, the Tassimo does a mean Cappuccino or Latte if you want. 😊

I’ll have a cappuccino, thank you. ☕️

I’ve got all sorts of nibbles here. I know you’ve sampled the cakes before, but I also have some fresh pakoras here. A recently perfected recipe, if you fancy 😉

Maybe some pakoras, then cake? 🧁

I think we should start with a little update. The last time you were here with me, you were celebrating the release of I’ll Miss You This Christmas, your first book with your publisher, Bloodhound Books. I know your second with them, Instructions For Falling In Love, was also rereleased a few months ago. How’s it all been going?

It’s been a busy time. I am getting ready to launch The Car Share (23 April 2024), editing Book 4 – Second Chances at the Little Love Café (August 2024), and finishing writing a Christmas romance (possibly book 5). I also have new book ideas queuing in my mind. I love being an author, so I am very happy. Lots of lovely Lucy Mitchell books to look forward to!

And I must mention that great podcast you, Lucy K and Bettina had recorded. I listened to each of those episodes and loved them! When are the plans for the second series to come out?

We are starting to record a second podcast series of Love at First Write in May so watch this space. I’m already watching!

I know you have become a bit of a TikToker, too. I try my hand, but I can’t get in the swing of the regular posts! I love your little videos. What do you think gets the most attention – the review posts or the writer situation/advice type ones?

Notebook obsessions are my top-performing posts. I have tried all sorts but for some reason everyone likes a notebook addict type of TikTok. Well, are you even a writer if you don’t have a notebook obsession?

Any recommendations from your recent reads?

I have loved Bettina Hunt’s ‘Sing For Me’, Kim Nash’s ‘Finding Family at the Cornish Cove’ and ‘Knowing Me Knowing You’ by Jeevani Charika. Oh, I have read them all, and they are definitely worth a read. I just finished an arc of Jeevani’s The Winner Bakes it all which is also brilliant!

And how many stories have you got on the go, right now? I know you, it’s hard for you to concentrate on just one project!

I have multiple projects on the go, plus a secret project. Everyone should have a secret project on the go 😀 I find it hard to write more than one at a time, but a secret project? That sounds intriguing… 🤫🤔😉

I think we need to come round to the book of the moment. The Car Share. Lucy, I loved it! I feel honoured to have been an early reader, before lots of editing, and I was enamoured of the story from the off. Reading the polished version was fantastic. Where did you come up with the idea of romance during a car share? A bit of close proximity, there…

I have spent years commuting to and from work. I have done buses, trains, and cars in my time. Commuter friendships and conversations have always stuck in my mind. I love how much is overshared in a car on the way to and from work.

I have also spent the last two years taking my youngest teenager and her mates to college. Those car-share journeys have given me so much novel fodder. Teenagers keep things real; their love lives are chaotic, and their feedback on my music tastes and driving skills was brutal – haha! I’m at the beginning of this experience, as I often ferry my 16-year-old daughter and her friends around. The conversations can be enlightening, and yes, definitely plenty of fodder!

And football? I’m not a footy fan, but I think you weaved women’s enjoyment of the sport into the story well. Were you a wannabe Lioness growing up?

I was a tomboy growing up in the 80’s. I used to play football in the street with the boys, and I would have loved to play for a team. The lads would let me play as I looked like a boy, and I was fast up the wing. I was 11/12, and up until this point in my life, I had never heard of ‘deodorant.’  All I will say is that after I came in from a street football match, my mother took me aside and said, ‘I think it’s time for me to buy you some deodorant’ – lol! He he!

Sadly, I was encouraged to get into cross-country running instead in the 80’s. Bleurgh!

It did not have the same appeal, as back in the 80s, we had to do it in tiny gym knickers (not shorts), we wore spikes (weird-looking running shoes with screw-in spikes) and not nice-looking football boots, and there was not a ball or a net in sight.

The only similarities were the weather and mud! I remember those days… hiding in bushes so we could skip a lap or two. My gym knickers were a fetching maroon with a pink Airtex top – thanks, St M’s for the wonderful uniform! – and running and I did not gel well, at all!

I love women’s football and I love the Lionesses – so inspiring!

One element I related to, was the fact that both your characters, Leah, and Mateo, had parents in a residential home. It can be a tireless, sometimes thankless, task ensuring your loved one is always visited, looked after, and happy, even though they may not always remember you. We have been through this with my grandma-in-law. Have you experienced this situation, yourself?

My husband’s grandparents were in residential homes, and we spent many years with our kids going to visit them. They were lovely places. Sad at times but nice residential homes with angel-like staff. I agree. It would be bittersweet visiting Grandma-in-law. The other residents loved when we took my kids, as it was a dementia and Alzhimers ward. Some thought they were their childhood friends were coming to play. I often remember my son getting the foam football out and there was a footy match in the lounge with half the players using Zimmer frames! Then, there were those lonely souls who were upset or crying. It tugged at my heartstrings.

And I’m sure my readers would love to know… is there an update on the cafe story, or is there something else you are working on?

Book 4 – Second Chances at the Little Love Café – August 2024. Oh, my goodness – you and your readers are going to love it! I have packed a lot of emotions and feelings into one tiny seaside café. I CANNOT wait!

The cups have run dry, time for more writing… Thanks for the chat and nibbles, Ritu 😊

You’re welcome, Lucy. It was a pleasure having you visit! And, I can’t wait for the other books, now, too! 😊

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of The Car Share, as well as an unedited version, so I have seen how this story has blossomed. Please find my review below, as well as the buy links and some more information about my fabulous guest, Lucy!

    The Blurb

Embark on a heart warming romantic journey in this delightful comedy that proves it doesn’t matter where you’re going — it’s who you have beside you on the way…

After Lia’s old car breathes its last, the single mum must reluctantly take the bus to work… and face unwarranted attention from a troublesome teenager.

It’s all too much to take — she’s been depressed since her fiancé’s death and even quit her beloved women’s football team. But it’s Happy Car Sharers to the rescue after her friends get her set up on the app. Mateo, meanwhile, has recently moved to town, and his long walk to the train station is a literal pain due to an ankle injury.

Soon he and Lia are riding each morning with a charmingly bossy driver and a rotation of colorful fellow passengers. It’s not love at first sight. Technically it’s not even first they’ve seen each other before at the nursing home where both their fathers live and Mateo plays piano for the residents. But with each trip they get to know each other better . . . and the more they know, the more they find to like.

With both of them consumed by personal losses and pressing family responsibilities — and another man getting in the way — can romance lie on the road ahead for these commuting companions?

The Car Share is a humorous exploration of love, loss, and the unexpected detours that lead us to where we truly belong.

    My Review

The Car Share by Lucy Mitchell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am a massive fan of Lucy Mitchell’s writing and was thrilled to be asked to read an ARC of this beautiful story, essentially about two broken souls who have lost the meaning of their lives after traumatic events.
An extremely random meeting, forcing them together as co-passengers in a car share scheme, creates tension and misunderstanding, but ultimately, it results in a level of understanding, compassion, and support for both of them.
Lia is a character I had a lot of time for. She’s a single mum who tragically loses the love of her life. She loses track of her past passions, choosing to live her life through her memories and for her little daughter, Daisy. Having to say goodbye to one of her most precious possessions and links to her boyfriend, Lia joins a car-sharing app and finds herself sharing the vehicle with someone she already knows, kind of.
I loved Mateo, too. He’s a sensitive soul who has been taken advantage of. Battling with his own upset, alongside seeing his father deteriorate in front of his eyes, makes for a sad man who has forgotten all the unique talents he had that made him stand out.
This car share, driven by the unforgettable Stella, catalyses much change.
Stella is brilliant! Her interactions with her troublesome teens bring much-needed laughter into the car, as those in the passenger seats need something to draw them out of their funks.
Both main characters have passions that have been forgotten, but somehow, they are what brings them together.
Lucy has dealt with the sensitive issues of ageing and loss extremely sensitively and cultivated a beautiful romance that stems from forced proximity. Still, ultimately, that closeness is needed for them to understand one another and themselves truly.
    Beautiful!!!

And here’s a little about Lucy.

I live in a house with two teenagers, an over-excited Labrador, a gang of unruly cats and a rugby-mad Welsh husband. On the morning of my 40th birthday, I decided to follow my dream of writing books. I’ve always enjoyed writing funny stuff and my mum still has the letters I used to write to her when I was at university and turned aspects of my student life into a comedy. When I am not writing, I am eating scampi & chips at my local pub, reading romance books or co-hosting the podcast – Love At First Write.

    Book and a Brew with Ritu – I’ll Miss You this Christmas by @LucyMitchAuth @BloodHoundBooks #NewRelease #BookReview

One of my oldest blogging friends!

I am absolutely thrilled to have a wonderful blogging friend, and writerly sister, Lucy Mitchell, visit today to discuss books, writing, podcasts and her newest release, I’ll Miss You This Christmas!

Hello, and welcome to But I Smile Anyway, Lucy! Let’s get you set with a drink, first. Tea, coffee, herbal tea, hot chocolate, or maybe a masala chai?

A green tea with honey would be perfect.

I’ve got all sorts of nibbles here, from Indian savouries, to freshly baked cookies and even a carrot cake. What do you fancy?

I tasted your cooking back in 2016 at the Annual Blogging Bash Awards and your cakes were beautiful.

Aw, thank you, Lucy! I am glad you remembered my Bake Off attempts!

Please, can I have a generous slice of your carrot cake?

    Of course.

You and I have known each other for a long while now, pretty much since we started blogging. I know you’ve wanted to be a published writer since forever… can you share your journey, from Wattpad to self-publishing, to being with Bloodhound Books?

You and I go back years. You’re right, we met in the WordPress blogging community many writing moons ago. We then met in the flesh at the Blogging Awards in London, and I knew we would always be friends. You have always been a true supporter of my writing and likewise me with your wonderful writing. Do you remember when I interviewed you on my blog and you had what you referred to as your teenage WIP (lol), was it 19 years old?

Absolutely! I remember that blog post well! I think it has hit at least 18 years when I had finally finished it!

I woke up on my 40th birthday and decided it was time to sort out my life dream of becoming an author. Everyone stared at me in bewilderment when I announced to the family over breakfast, that I was going to be an author. I had not written anything proper for years. When I was 12 weeks pregnant in 2003 with my first daughter, high on pregnancy hormones, I did write a Space romcom which defied the laws of science. I had read it back once since giving birth and cringed so much at my characters having saucy moments as they passed the Rings of Saturn that I had to forget about writing for 10 years.

    😂 I feel like I need to read this…

So, my husband paid for me to go on a 12-week writing course. This was a game-changer. I realised a lot of things over those 12 weeks. Firstly, I couldn’t call myself a writer and not write anything (lol), I couldn’t write books and not read books regularly, and everyone on that course was far better than me at writing. The tutor recommended we develop our craft and start a blog. In 2014 my blog was born.

I blogged every day for about 2 years. Short, snappy and diary-like entries about my life.

    I loved those entries!

I won the Funniest Blog award for 2 years running, made a ton of writing friends, realised I had found my tribe and LOVED every single minute. Blogging taught me so many valuable things, most importantly discipline. I turned up every day to write.  Then someone told me I should write a book….

I wrote a dreadful thriller which will never see the light of day again and I also went on Wattpad and wrote – The Diary of Roxy Collins. https://www.wattpad.com/story/54120403-the-diary-of-roxy-collins?utm_source=web&utm_medium=email&utm_content=share_myworks

Roxy Collins is my fictional heroine. Her funny diary entries got me 70k followers on Wattpad and over 270k views. She will always be my favourite character. She gave me validation that I could become an author.

Roxy has a special place in my heart, too. I keep telling you your publisher needs to do something with her stories. She is fab!

I wrote my first romance novel – Instructions for Falling in Love Again, and after a ton of rejections, I self-published it in 2019. This was one of the best things I have ever done and was a brilliant experience. It changed my life, and from that point on, I knew I wanted to be published before the age of 50. I had several years of working with agents, going on submission, a lot of rejections and then, at the start of this year, I got signed by Bloodhound Books. The book I wrote in the weeks after my dad died – I’ll Miss You This Christmas is coming out on 15 September.

    https://geni.us/MissYouChristmas

Even better is that my first novel, Instructions for Falling in Love Again, will be re-published by Bloodhound Books in November. Yes, I have signed a 4-book contract with Bloodhound Books. I am becoming the author I used to dream about when I was a kid – squeal!

That is awesome! I am so proud of you and happy for you! (Doing my happy dance! 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽)

And, I know you have written several novels already, but this is only the second one that has been published, so far. Will the other ones be coming out any time soon for a tweak and a publish?

Yes, I have signed a 4-book contract with Bloodhound Books. I am becoming the author I used to dream about when I was a kid – squeal! 🎉🎉

Where is your favourite place to write and create? I know you have a heap of notebooks (who doesn’t?) that you love to post about. Do you handwrite any of your draft, or just the plans?

This is what I have created for myself in terms of a writing space. I love it and even my cat – Harry loves it too.

He looks so much like Sonu Singh!

I am a true pantser. I write a few notes and then dump everything onto a Word document. I also think I have a weird writing process as I write things out of order and then piece them back together years later. Very odd. My ideas don’t come fully formed. They come in bits with no instruction manual.

Oh, if only there was a manual…

I am a huge lover of romantic novels of all sorts. What pulled you towards that genre?

I love reading romance. I love crying my eyes out over a good romance. I love thinking about the fictional couple for weeks after and wishing the author would send me an update on how their Happily Ever After is going.

Talking of romance writers, tell the readers about your newest non-writing project, Love At First Write – a podcast with the fabulous Lucy Keeling and Bettina Hunt! (who have both popped over for a Book & A Brew in the past, too!) What gave you three the idea to start this new venture?

I recorded a podcast back in 2016 when podcasts were very new. I recorded The Diary of Roxy Collins. Back then I don’t think audio-books were big. Anyway, I recorded her diary entries whilst huddled in my daughter’s shoe cupboard with a gin and tonic. I had such a giggle. One of the most enjoyable things I have done creatively.

And I loved listening to you reading them!

So, the podcast idea never left me. I wanted to reach out to a different audience of readers and romance writers. Then, I met 2 like-minded souls, Lucy Keeling and Bettina Hunt. At the start of this year, I pestered them both about creating a podcast and voila – Love at First Write was born.

We have had so much fun putting this together and it’s also been a steep learning curve.

It’s a podcast aimed at newbie romance writers, romance authors and romance readers who want to know what it’s like writing romance. It’s funny and full of useful tips. We are on all the main podcasting platforms and we go live on Friday 1st September with our weekly episodes. https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/love-at-first-write/id1697505295

I’ve already heard the intro episode which is such fun! I was one of your first listeners on the 1st… well, after I finished my first day back at school! 🙄

Now, let’s come back to your new release, I’ll Miss You This Christmas. There are layers of grief among the rest of the romance and light-heartedness in this lovely story. I know you suffered your own loss around the time you were writing this. Was it cathartic?

Yes, very much so. I wrote it on the trains back and forth from Leeds after Dad died suddenly in May 2021. I live in Wales, and he lived in Leeds. The train journeys were so painful, and I think on the first one I cried the whole way there. I’d spoken to him a few days before and he was his usual happy self. Then I got a call to say he had suffered a huge stroke and was on end-of-life care. We spent 5 days by his bedside in a Leeds hospital. He never woke up and it broke my heart. On the way home, I knew he’d want me to write. He was my biggest supporter of books and writing. So, I did. My novel, I’ll Miss You This Christmas, was born.

    Huge hugs, Lucy. 🤗🤗

I love how the title reflects the different meanings of ‘miss’ within the story. Missing people emotionally and missing them physically. What made you think of setting the majority of this story on the trains?

It was all the time I spent on trains going back and forth from Wales to Leeds. Not only after he’d died but also in the weeks after to support Mum.

I have already told you this, but I loved the fact that you had a third main character, Felix, who is a young boy, and his point of view about the whole story. He is pivotal to the plot. Did you base him on anyone you know?

He was a boy on the train who I saw when I was crying over dad. A young boy with freckles and red hair was down the carriage and he was doing what Felix does in the book. I won’t give the game away as that’s an important part of my story.

Oooh, now that is even more intriguing!

And I’m sure my readers would love to know… what do you have in the pipeline? Is there anything up your sleeves, already?

Instructions for Falling in Love Again – November 2023

The Car Share – April 2024

My Café story – but not confirmed title yet.

Thank you for having me over, Ritu.

You are most welcome, Lucy. It was a pleasure having you visit! And, I can’t wait for the other books, now, too! 😊

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of The Christmas Trip so please find my review below, as well as the buy links and some more information about my fabulous guest, Sandy!

    My Review

I’ll Miss You This Christmas: A life-affirming and uplifting Christmas romance by Lucy Mitchell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have been looking forward to reading this for a long time now. Lucy Mitchell’s second book was eagerly anticipated!
Emily is not looking forward to Christmas. It is far too different to Christmases past, with loved ones no longer around her and a new responsibility on her head. That of a carer to her nine-year-old nephew Felix, and a rather overexcited dog, Baxter, who has a penchant for running off with her underwear!
Things used to be so good between them, but nowadays, they spend forever fighting, bickering, and generally having no fun whatsoever.
She misses Vivi, her sister, who was tragically taken from her. And she desperately misses her ex, Rory, though she doesn’t really know that.
But Felix does. And he tries his hardest to help in his own nine-year-old way.
The story is set over the space of a couple of days, and trains feature heavily as the characters end up on eventful journeys to try and find their own happy endings, with so many near misses!
This story is written in multiple POVs; Emily, Rory and Felix.
Can I start by saying I loved having Felix’s side of the story? Felix is a beautifully complex character with his secrets and wishes, and the ideas he has to help his little family be happy are just epic, cute and kinda crazy!
I just wanted to hug Emily and tell her things would be okay. It’s a lot to take on responsibility for a child, even if that child is your nephew.
And Rory. Bless him. He’s suffering his own grief and trying to overcome everything without the woman he loves by his side.
My heartstrings were tugged from the book’s first pages as we were thrown into the midst of chaos, with arguments, tantrums (and Baxter running off with Emily’s lingerie!)
Grief shows in many different ways and the way Lucy has explored this through various angles is sensitive and heart-rending, but there are brilliant dashes of humour to keep the reader upbeat.
I wanted that happy ending and kept turning pages, on the edge of my seat, as they very nearly got there… then something else happened to stop the inevitable, but each and every twist kept me hooked through to the end.
An incredibly wonderful story. Funny, poignant and hopeful.
I can’t wait for the next Lucy Mitchell story!

Instructions For Falling In Love Again by Lucy Mitchell @Blondewritemore #BookReview #IFFILA

Finally, after many years of writing, and imagining, burying ideas in her garden, writing more, digging them up and querying, submitting, battling with writers block and angst, our girl, Lucy Mitchell, has finally gone and done it!

    Lucy Mitchell – Author Extrordinaire

She has her debut novel out on Sunday 30th June, and I was honoured to be asked to read an advanced copy of her book, Instructions for Falling In Love Again, ahead of official release day.

    Isn’t the cover beautiful?

Now, let me start by handing you the official blurb…

What would you do if your late husband left you a list of instructions on how to fall in love with someone else?
Pippa Browning is faced with this exact dilemma, three years after the death of her husband, Dan.
Buried at the bottom of a drawer are a collection of notebooks full of Dan’s advice on how to live without him.
Pippa’s notebook is red and contains his instructions on how to fall in love again.
But Dan doesn’t just want Pippa to fall in love with anyone – Dan’s
crazy suggestion is that Pippa should date his handsome friend, Mikey Stenton, a known thrill-seeking ladies’ man.
Reluctant to follow Dan’s advice, Pippa enters the world of dating. She embarks on a humorous journey of self-discovery, with the help of her children and two best friends.
It isn’t long before Pippa is finding it hard to ignore Dan’s instructions and Mikey Stenton.
Is Mikey really the man that everyone thinks him to be? Or was Dan right, and Mikey’s simply been misunderstood?
An uplifting and heart-warming story about bereavement, friendship and finding love, the second time around.

And here is my review… totally ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!

Instructions for Falling In Love Again
There are days when you really need a good Rom Com to fall into. A book that will make you forget the world around you as you immerse yourself in its fictitious one.
Well, that was me as I fell into Author Lucy Mitchell’s debut novel, Instructions For Falling In Love Again.
I found myself living alongside Pippa Browning, a recently widowed mother of three, who is just starting to get her life into some semblance of normality, after losing her beloved husband to cancer three years previously.
Being a single mother is never easy, and dealing with a teen bunny boiler in practice, and two children who know how to wreak havoc at just the right (or wrong) time, who are all dealing with the grief of losing their father, has her at her nerves end.
Pippa is lucky to have her two best friends, Mel and Emma, by her side, and the support of her sister Helen.
And she also has a book.
A notebook filled with wisdom that was left for her, written by her late husband, giving her clear instructions for how to get on with her life without him, by falling in love again.
With the wrong guy. Mikey Stenton – International playboy and all-round tart!
    I was hooked.
I loved the characters of Pippa and her family, including her interfering mother, who wants the best for her daughter, but by her own standards, not her daughter.
I loved feisty Daisy, the teenage crazy girl who knows how to back her crushes into corners.
I loved Libby, the middle child with a talent for football, and a penchant for small furry animals.
I loved Billy, the youngest member of the Browning family, who was a typical little boy, always getting into arguments with his sister, and never brushing his hair.
Pippa’s friends are wonderfully supportive, quirky characters, who only want the best for their dear friend.
And I adored Mikey Stenton, the true tart with a heart – who goes from bed-hopping to school dropping… I shan’t say too much more, because I don’t want to give too much away.
Oh, and Pippa wasn’t the only one left with a notebook…
But seriously, there were some fantastic twists and turns, and I found myself in fits of giggles, in tears and in that “Aaaaawwwww!” moment too.
Do I recommend this book? Absolutely! What a great debut novel.
Lucy, I am waiting for more from you!

Here is a little more about Lucy:

I live in South Wales with my husband, my two teenage daughters, a giant labrador and a gang of unruly cats.
I am the author of the award winning blog, BlondeWriteMore and I was a Featured Romance Author on Wattpad.
When I am not working or writing, I can be found listening to audiobooks in a muddy field with my dog or sat outside my local pub in the sunshine enjoying a glass of wine.

    Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 226 – Sharing Joy @Blondewritemore

    img_00411

Celebrate the joy of others. Soon, that joy becomes your own.”

    Ritu 2019

Thank you Spidey, for that late bit of inspiration!

I apologise for the late Spidey entry this week, but I have been extraordinarily tired the last few days, what with school, courses I have to attend, and these blasted reports I have to write, so I flaked out last night without even considering that Spidey hadn’t enlightened me yet!

But I was glad, because this quote came to me…

There are times you see so many around you who have something to celebrate, and you might feel a little down, as things aren’t going your way.

So why not share the joy the others are feeling? It won;d detract fom their happiness, in fact it will magnify their feelings and that same positivity will begin to rub off on you.

I speak from experience, in so many ways.

When we were trying for a family, it felt like the whole world got pregnant at the drop of a hat, yet here we were, struggling.

Instead of wallowing in our own sadness, I embraced each and every piece of baby news I got. I relished it, in fact, because one day that would be me. And that positivity followed us through those 3 years of struggle, keeping us afloat. And look at me, two kids down, I think we got where we wanted, didn’t we?

It’s the same for work, isn’t it? You might be chasing a promotion or a particular project, yet you aren’t selected. Be the bigger person, congratulate others. Your attitude will be noted, I promise you, by someone higher up, and when the time is right, it’ll be your turn.

And today, I want to celebrate with one of my fellow writers.

Yes, officially, next week, her joy will know no bounds, but her post this morning brought such a big smile on my face, it was what prompted the quote above.

Lovely Lucy Mitchell of Blonde Write More fame, is finally about to release her debut novel, Instructions For Falling In Love Again. It’s out next week!

Her post this morning (read here) detailed how she would spend this week, pre-release, celebrating a long journey to realise her dream.

And though I am on that same journey, and haven’t quite got there yet, I feel almost as much excitement as Lucy about this momentous occasion in her life.

In fact, sharing her joy spurs me on to get my edits done, so I can be in her position soon enough,

I feel blessed to be one of her advanced readers too and will be devouring the book later today, as my son plays cricket. A few chapters in and I am absolutely loving the premise, the characters and the cover, it is gorgeous! (Expect a review soon enough).

Remember, June 30th 2019… its her official release date, and I cannot stress enough, that if you like romantic comedies, you will LOVE this book!

So… tell me, whose joy will you share in, creating a more positive you?

    A Writers Prayer #ThrowbackThursday

Browsing through my reader, as I do every morning, I came across this post by Lucy Mitchell, aka. Blonde Write More. (Have you been to her blog? If you haven’t, get your ass over there, she is tooo funny!)

Well, today she was talking about the Writer’s Prayer, and what you could be saying to Him Up There in your nightly prayers.

Inspiration hit me and this was the prayer I left in her comments, inspired by the Lords Prayer. (It’s ingrained in my head, despite being Sikh, not Christian, as I went to a Heart of England Church school so we recited this every day in assembly…!)

    The Writer’s Prayer

Our Father, My art is writing
    I want literary fame
    Let inspiration come
And this first draft be done
In my head, as well as on paper
Let me reach, today, my daily word count
    And forgive my grammar mistakes
Spellcheck and Grammarly will correct them
And Beta readers will guide me
    And correct my direction
    For their opinion is important
    They will be buyers
    And also my editors
    AMEN
    🙇🏽
